About this audiobook

The bestselling author of The Last Mrs. Parrish returns with a psychological thriller, filled with chilling serpentine twists, about a woman fighting to hold onto the only family she’s ever loved—and how far she’ll go to preserve it.

Named one of the most anticipated thrillers of the year by Goodreads, Bustle, SheReads, and Library Journal

Breezing into the tony seaside paradise of Westport, Connecticut, gorgeous thirtysomething Piper Reynard sets down roots, opening a rehab and wellness space and joining a local yacht club. When she meets Leo Drakos, a handsome, successful lawyer, the wedding ring on his finger is the only thing she doesn’t like about him. Yet as Piper well knows, no marriage is permanent.

Meanwhile, Joanna has been waiting patiently for Leo, the charismatic man she fell in love with all those years ago, to re-emerge from the severe depression that has engulfed him. Though she’s thankful when Leo returns to his charming, energetic self, paying attention again to Evie and Stelli, the children they both love beyond measure, Joanna is shocked to discover that it’s not her loving support that’s sparked his renewed happiness—it’s something else.

Piper. Leo has fallen head over heels for the flaky, New Age-y newcomer, and unrepentant and resolute, he’s more than willing to leave Joanna behind, along with everything they’ve built. Of course, he assures her, she can still see the children.

Joanna is devastated—and determined to find something, anything, to use against this woman who has stolen her life and her true love. As she digs deeper into Piper’s past, Joanna begins to unearth disturbing secrets . . . but when she confides to her therapist that she fears for the lives of her ex-husband and children, her concerns are dismissed as paranoia. Can she find the proof she needs in time to save them?

A lot of build up for a decently interesting twist at the end. Seems rushed and quickly edited so Liv constantine could meet a deadline for her next book. Quick listen, but not enthralling

Good book surprise ending kept ya totally misdirected, only bad part is the entire explanation of the story happened in last chapter all rushed together. It would have been better if we got a little at a time and was able to connect it as we went.

I thought that the story was far fetched enough that I wasn’t able to suspend disbelief long enough to become immersed in the story. I thought that the narration was decent though.

Tedious and drawn out. Not worth the ending. Stilted language for characters.

This book kept me on my toes for sure. I thought I had it figured out, then bam, the ending threw me! A must-read, especially if you are a reader who loves mystery.

This was a good book, and as most books at the end, you discover a piece of the puzzle that was missing, and everything makes sense. But in this case the piece was so big that it felt intellectually dishonest. Otherwise it was a good book and excellent narration.

I am a huge fan of the authors. However, I had a hard time listening to it. It’s a bit drawn out and started to feel like a chore about 2/3 of the way through.

Kept my interest and wanted to know where the story is going. At first I was disappointed and thought maybe 3 stars as some things just seemed so unbelievable BUT as the story unfolded, I was shocked! Loved it!

Julia Whelan's performance was awesome, like always! However, the narrator who does the voice of Piper, definitely needs a lot of work. Her performance was like listening to staccato. Plus, bthe entire story was extremely hard to believe. This is mainly because there are some outlandish things that both women kept doing.

The book stretches out and got a bit boring. The final twist was good, but came too late. I dont't think this is a thriller at all.

Lots of twists in this one, and for once a book that did not reveal the twists right away and I never guessed them. I think many of us women have had a "Piper" come into our lives and it was easy for me to dislike her character. I don't want to spoil anything but this was a good listen and the narration was excellent.

This author is fantastic!!! Nothing is formula writing and surprises evolve throughout the stories. I’ve not been correct as to what I expect the end to be.on her first 3 books. The best part is that the endings are not surreal but make sense.
