In Maryrose Wood's stunning middle-grade novel, Alice's Farm, a brave young rabbit must work with her natural predators to save her farmland home and secretly help the farm’s earnest but incompetent new owners.
When a new family moves into Prune Street Farm, Alice and the other cottontails are cautious. The new owners are from the city; the family and their dog are not at all what the rabbits expect, and soon Alice is making new friends and doing things no rabbit has done before. When she overhears a plan by a developer to run the family off and bulldoze the farm, Alice comes up with a plan, helped by the farmer’s son, and other animals, including a majestic bald eagle.
Here is a stunning celebration of life, the bitter and the sweet. Alice is some rabbit—a character listeners will love for generations to come.

Maryrose Wood
Maryrose Wood is the author of the first five books (so far!) in this series about the Incorrigible children and their governess. These books may be considered works of fiction, which is to say, the true bits and the untrue bits are so thoroughly mixed together that no one should be able to tell the difference. This process of fabrication is fully permitted under the terms of the author's Poetic License, which is one of her most prized possessions. Maryrose's other qualifications for writing these tales include a scandalous stint as a professional thespian, many years as a private governess to two curious and occasionally rambunctious pupils, and whatever literary insights she may have gleaned from living in close proximity to a clever but disobedient dog.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5What a lovely unique, yet classic story! Maryrose, you have done it again!! It’s such a vitally important thing, for children (and really everyone of all ages) to feel comfortable and calm about the beautiful process of getting older, changing, and yes, dying. Our western culture tries to hind this aging process so much with constant pressure to have wrinkle free skin, and to stay ‘young looking’, that we all fear, and try to prevent dying, even when someone is so old that all they can do is sit in a hospital bed staring at a wall. As a young reader myself, I am very relieved, that not all adults feel uncomfortable and awkward about telling kids about death, and a beautiful funny story is made richer and more valuable to me, when the aging process is explained with non-disneyfide loving honesty. If your a parent out there, looking for a way to tell your child about mortality—you’ve found your book! ❤️
