About this audiobook

*INSTANT #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER*

"Robert Bathurst is just about perfect delivering the 16th Chief Inspector Armand Gamache novel...Listen to all the Gamache audiobooks for maximum satisfaction." -- AudioFile Magazine, Earphones Award winner

In All the Devils Are Here, the 16th novel by #1 bestselling author Louise Penny finds Chief Inspector Armand Gamache of the Sûreté du Quebec investigating a sinister plot in the City of Light.

On their first night in Paris, the Gamaches gather as a family for a bistro dinner with Armand’s godfather, the billionaire Stephen Horowitz. Walking home together after the meal, they watch in horror as Stephen is knocked down and critically injured in what Gamache knows is no accident, but a deliberate attempt on the elderly man’s life.

When a strange key is found in Stephen’s possession it sends Armand, his wife Reine-Marie, and his former second-in-command at the Sûreté, Jean-Guy Beauvoir, from the top of the Tour d’Eiffel, to the bowels of the Paris Archives, from luxury hotels to odd, coded, works of art.

It sends them deep into the secrets Armand’s godfather has kept for decades.

A gruesome discovery in Stephen’s Paris apartment makes it clear the secrets are more rancid, the danger far greater and more imminent, than they realized.

Soon the whole family is caught up in a web of lies and deceit. In order to find the truth, Gamache will have to decide whether he can trust his friends, his colleagues, his instincts, his own past. His own family.

For even the City of Light casts long shadows. And in that darkness devils hide.

"Bathurst superbly manipulates tone, volume, and pace to highlight this range of emotions. Paris is described beautifully, and Bathurst lingers over these descriptive passages that will speak to any traveler’s soul..." -- Booklist, starred review

Another great book by Louise Penny. I thought I would miss THREE PINES but after the first chapter I became enchanted with the Paris I DIDNT know. Fascinating end and I won’t give any spoilers. Absolutely one of the best!!

All The Devils Are Here by Louise Penny is her best work yet. I can’t even believe I’m saying that having read all the rest of the books in the series. While I love Three Pines, this book set in Paris dives deep into Gamache’s family and past. Here, there is much to explore. I loved it so much. Highly recommend.

I have listened to many of the Gamache series, and this was one of my favourites by far. While they’re all wonderful, this one was especially poignant, as Gamache’s fraught relationship with his son was examined, as well as the curious history with his own godfather. The action was exciting from the get-go, with the added allure of having the streets of Paris play backdrop to the mystery. I found it especially fun & fulfilling to have the whole Gamache family jumping in and helping out as a team, finally getting to see Rène Marie in action in the archives, rather than just fretting and waiting for Armand to return home.
Louise Penny has done it again!

So many layers of depth that takes it so far beyond a simple "who done it" mystery. Louise Penny layers meaning upon meaning and examines so many of the vital issues of our time...from personal to societal to global. Just wow!
