About this audiobook
Part tirade, part confessional from the celebrated Rolling Stone journalist, Hate Inc. reveals that what most people think of as "the news" is, in fact, a twisted wing of the entertainment business.
In this characteristically turbocharged new book, celebrated Rolling Stone journalist Matt Taibbi provides an insider's guide to the variety of ways today's mainstream media tells us lies. Taibbi, who has spent much of his career covering elections in which this kind of manipulative activity is most egregious, provides a rich taxonomic survey of American political journalism's dirty tricks.
Heading into a 2020 election season that promises to be a Great Giza Pyramid Complex of invective and digital ugliness, Hate Inc. will be an invaluable antidote to the hidden poisons dished up by those we rely on to tell us what is happening in the world.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Written by a left leaning journalist, it shows the biases kept by journalists on both sides of the political spectrum. This is a book everyone should read, no matter your political standing.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Taibbi is so studiously hands-off on the subject of Trump/Russia but so hands-on about the reporting and “investigation.” What keeps him outside?

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Scratching your head at the shallow yet vitriolic nature of American political discourse in the 21st century? Read it. You'll walk away from this book armed with a new perspective on power and the media. It's also rather funny.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Interesting points raised about “news* and those who purvey it. With the events after the book publication, some of his points about the Mueller inquiry are outdated.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I liked that taibbi was able to criticize both sides (obviously he still has liberal bias) . Synopsis : media makes money selling hate and fear. Both sides. The end.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5It’s nice to hear a journalist examine journalism. It should happen more often.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Left wing pundit trying to come to grips with "Why they hate us". Tries to portray himself as a centrist giving an even-handed portrayal of "both sides do it".
I kinda lost interest when he repeated the Charlottesville fine people hoax. - Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Excellent, a must-read so why only 1 star?!
It's full of ad hominem attacks, a hallmark of Fox's rhetoric.
Taibi sets up an equivalence between left and right wing media which is completely wrong. Yes they both have the same business model but that's where it ends. The intent to create hate is Fox's M.O. and purpose and the reasons go beyond its business model to Murdoch's political objectives.
This book opened my eyes and shocked me about left wing main stream media (vs. e.g. Young Turks) and Im a better viewer for it, but I still don't see the left wing media trying to create such hatred.
Does left- wing hatred of the right exist? Damn sure, but caused by Trump and pretzeled Republicans not by MSNBC.
Taibi's justification of his book's cover would be correct if the title were "Media Inc." but not Hate Inc. - Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5This is a journalist? He has TDS so bad he cannot get a sentence out without Trump bad. So many lies and distortions it's pathetic..He is correct about the media, both sides, but his complete left-wing mind has blinded him to true reality. Big problems with both sides but books like this will do nothing but exacerbate the problem. Books like this make the left happy, the right mad, and the
centrist stop reading, very sad.2 people found this helpful
