About this audiobook
The first of Maurice Leblanc's collections about his devilish, debonair rogue, Arsène Lupin, Gentleman-Burglar presents eight dazzling short stories that display some of Lupin's greatest thefts and escapes. Lupin robs from within prison, leaves its walls with ease, steals priceless diamonds from the rich and outwits the greatest detective of all: Sherlock Holmes. Witty, cunning, and taunting, Lupin is a genius on the wrong side of the law, although his noble code of ethics and Robin-Hood-like ways often see him use his talents for good.
Maurice Leblanc
Maurice Leblanc was born in 1864 in Rouen. From a young age he dreamt of being a writer and in 1905, his early work caught the attention of Pierre Lafitte, editor of the popular magazine, Je Sais Tout. He commissioned Leblanc to write a detective story so Leblanc wrote 'The Arrest of Arsène Lupin' which proved hugely popular. His first collection of stories was published in book form in 1907 and he went on to write numerous stories and novels featuring Arsène Lupin. He died in 1941 in Perpignan.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I’ve still just seen the first ep of LUPIN, but wanted to get a feel for the original Arsène Lupin stories. I haven’t looked at this English vsn alongside the original French, but it feels elegant and fluid, and IMO captures the tone of breezy, brainy wit that the French have adored since the early 1900s. A wonderful British reader takes the tack I prefer with translations of a work like this: he uses British dialects to indicate class differences of characters, and differentiate them. No lame French accents in the English of this recording! Perfect. Thanks, Naxos.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Just bump into this book. Love it, especially when he bumped into Sherlock Holmes
