This was a difficult audiobook to get through. The tone with which the author reads lacks any variety. At times I feel he is just reading a diary entry to himself. It is also difficult to get past the authors preconceived stereotypes of the UNited States, and his hatred of our political system (a bit odd that he brings these things up so often). I listened to this as research for my thru hike of the Appalachian trail. I got out of it what I needed, but could have discovered it elsewhere.

Great narration. It is a realistic depiction of life on a long trail, physically and psychologically. I liked his flexibility with the route and admired his determination to complete it despite obvious physical suffering. As a non-US citizen, his observations of US culture were interesting. Considering this was written in 2000, it would be fascinating to read what he thinks of how the country has evolved since then.

Good story. I got used to his accent and moved his story.
