About this audiobook
Mike Majlak was a seventeen-year-old from a loving, middle-class family in Milford, Connecticut, when he got caught up in the opioid epidemic that swept the nation. For close to a decade thereafter, his life was a wasteland of darkness and despair. While his peers were graduating from college, buying homes, getting married, having kids, and leading normal lives, Mike was snorting OxyContin, climbing out of cars at gunpoint, and burying his childhood friends. Unable to escape the noose of addiction, he eventually lost the trust and support of everyone who had ever loved him. Alone, with nothing but drugs to keep him company, darkness closed in, and the light inside him—the last flicker of hope—began to dim. His dreams, potential, and future were all being devoured by a relentless addiction too powerful to fight. Despair filled him as he realized he wasn’t going to survive.
Somehow, he did…
HE NOT ONLY SURVIVED,
HE THRIVED.
Now he’s a social media personality with millions of followers, and an entrepreneur, marketer, podcaster, YouTuber, and author who hopes to use his voice to shine a light for those whose own lights have grown dim.
This is his story.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was by far the most real and true story about how addiction can start so early on usually when I listen to autobiographies I get bored when it goes to the end. This kept you going the whole time this man’s story is truly inspirational and it’s amazing to see what he has done with his life. I’m only a few years younger and I understand exactly what he was talking about in high school as I came from a small town on the coast of New England as well
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I’m not an addict or anything, but I do have depression and struggle with the ups and downs that come with it. I found you on the IMPAULSIVE podcast which stumbled upon while listening to others, and found you and your story very intriguing. I love this story about you and God Bless you finding yourself. I am going to use your advice to help myself and will continue to help others. Thanks Mike.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I’m a incoming 9th grade Freshmen and this book is a 9th grade reading level but it’s a little much for me I would recommend this book for 10th to 11th grade + it could be that I’m not good with blood and hearing about these stories. But other then that this book is amazing, the whole story definitely worth 5 stars.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5From addiction to redemption told in a first person view then to follow it up at the end with the steps to take for the listener who needs it this book is just simply amazing for anyone struggling with anything . Thank you so much Mike. Your vulnerability has impacted the world and gives people true hope. Congratulations on all your success but more importantly congratulations on your sobriety. Keep going
