    Nnedi Okorafor is an award-winning novelist of African-based science fiction, fantasy, and magical realism. Born in the US to Nigerian immigrant parents, Okorafor is known for weaving African cultures into creative settings and memorable characters. Her book, Who Fears Death has been optioned by HBO, with Game of Thrones' George R.R. Martin as executive producer. Okorafor is a full-time professor at the University at Buffalo, New York (SUNY).

      Like most people investigating this book I am a Binti series fan. Akata witch was a pale substitute although I liked it just fine it didn't have the same feel for me. This novella, however, hit the spot and then some. I especially like that the character did not spend as much time being vulnerable as the heroin in Binti did.

      This story is lonely but full. She has a drive to determine her connection to the artifact seed but along the way she finds her strength and learns to control her powers, grief, guilt and emotional responses. She learns many valuable lessons and she teaches several men deserved lessons too.

      The ending felt final but I could see where a sequel would be possible (possibly a fight between her and the corporate pharmaceutical company that mysteriously follows her through the entire story). I wouldn't mind another journey like this one.

      I didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would. Regardless of how hard I tried I couldn’t get past the Wakanada accent, the narrator kept switching to.
      Would recommend to a YA reader though.

      It was confusion. A mix between a very rural Ghana and far fetched futuristic technology. I never thought these two very opposite topics could be merged so beautifully.

      Ez az olvasásom egy Eszti (booksflyingaround) kopogtatás volt. Mivel Esztire feltétel nélkül hallgatni kell (ezt mindenki vésse az eszébe :D), ezért természetesen elolvastam. És természetesen nagyon is jó volt!

      Ugyan a hangoskönyvben néha belefutottam, hogy sehogy nem bírtam kihallani egyes szavakat a narrátor akcentusától, ettől függetlenül egy nagyon érdekes és egyedi történetet ismerhettem meg.
      Igazából tudtam volna még tovább hallgatni, de az biztos, hogy nagyon badass befejezése volt, amitől a hideg is kirázott, a jó értelemben.

      Külön örültem, hogy ettől a könyvtől nem akartam a kardomba dőlni. Nem mondom, hogy vidám lett volna, de depis sem volt. Igazság szerint, valamikor újra kellene olvasnom, nem hangoskönyvben, mert szerintem vannak még rétegei, amit így nem feltétlenül vettem észre, és a kulturális háttértudásomat is művelni kéne hozzá.
