About this audiobook
Every Wednesday, like clockwork, the terror returns.
It seems like an ordinary Wednesday, until the phone rings. A mysterious caller with a chilling threat. Journalist Alice Henderson hangs up, ready to dismiss it as a hoax against the newspaper. But the next Wednesday, the stalker makes another move—and it becomes clear that this is all about Alice.
Someone wants her to suffer, but for what? Her articles have made her a popular local champion—could it be her past rather than her work that’s put her life in danger? Alice is determined not to give in to fear, but with the police investigation at a dead end, her boyfriend insists on hiring private investigator Matthew Hill.
With every passing Wednesday the warnings escalate, until it’s not only Alice but also her family in the stalker’s sights. As her tormentor closes in, can Alice uncover what she’s being punished for before the terrifying threats become an unthinkable reality?

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A very good story though I figured out who was the stalker early on. I chalk it up to having listened to too many books in this genre.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I Will Make You Pay by Teresa Driscoll was... different. This time I can't decide how good or bad different. In general story wasn't bad, there was enough suspense and intense moments but for some reason, I could not connect with this book like with others. And it's weird as I can't say I didn't like it but at the same time, I can't say I liked it! Confusing! It's like a creepy mystery. For some reason for a while, all the stories were mixing and matching and there was a stage where I thought I was reading 2 books at the same time.
Alice discovers she has a stalker and with each Wednesday things get worse and more scary. Whoever this stalker is, he knows a lot about her personal life. Her boyfriend Tom decides to hire a private detective to solve the mystery. Will this solve the mystery? Will Alice finally feel safe? Is Alice actually Alice? Who is the stalker?
It's so hard for me to rate a book that I like and not really like at the same time. So I will go with 4 stars as it's definitely a good book just some blockage with me, I believe.
Please, read this book and make your own mind up and share with me as I am curious to know if I am the only one who swings to both sides and can't decide! - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Cracker of a storey! Well paced .
Believable characters. Some great twists and turns.
Also very well recorded.
Highly recommend ?❤️? - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Really good mystery and suspense
I wasn’t satisfied with the ending, but i do not regret reading - Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Oh my my my.... her writing is of the frustration and annoyance genre. Get on with it, seriously get to the point. Her idea is to build suspense she'll go on and on about an obsession but we don't know what is going on waiting for the inside voices to get to the point. This is my fourth book by the author. Why I don't know. Her books are all over the place, I get confused often, and the main characters are all 'OBSESSIVE' about what I think are really dumb perspectives only a sheltered person would have. Like here why Alice uses her 2nd name as her 1st, ah ya well any sane person would do the same! You do not have to tell anyone about your past, no one. The books all have the same characters which would work well if not for poorly integrated offshout stories or left unresolved. Where is her editor? I will not listen to another, as each has many story line problems and OCD main characters. The end is not making sense chronologically. So the whole book is narrow focused on who is stalking Alice and then it is him. OG. Makes no sense.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I figured it out early on too. But the story was good. I just wish Brian had been outed.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I've read two other books by this author and they were both better than this. This one was not that suspenseful or interesting. Unfortunately, I kept reading thinking that it would get more interesting and there were times that I thought it was going to but no. I was just happy when it was done. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't that good either.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A classic psychological thriller! Journalist Alice Henderson receives a chilling, threatening phone call one Wednesday, which she initially tries to dismiss as a prank. But as each Wednesday brings another disturbing call or event, she begins to realize that her life may be in danger and that she is being stalked by someone very dangerous.Told from a variety of viewpoints and alternating between past and present, this novel provides the reader with an engrossing, easily readable story as Alice, DI Melanie Sanders and PI Matthew Hill try to unravel the mystery behind who is tormenting and threatening Alice and why. It has plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader interested and guessing.I enjoyed this novel very much, as I have enjoyed Driscoll’s previous novel “I am Waiting for You.” (And, even though DI Sanders and PI Hill appear in other of Driscoll’s works, each of them can really be read as a stand-alone because the focus in each is on the victim.) I recommend this to anyone who enjoys a fast-paced psychological thriller, and I look forward to reading more of Driscoll’s works. Thanks to the publisher and to NetGalley for providing me with an advanced reader’s copy to review.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This was really enjoyable. It's one of those books where you are reading what's going on, but for some reason you think there might be something else lurking in the background, something that maybe you aren't being told. I really love that feeling. And I like having that feeling whether it comes true or not. Do author's somehow do that on purpose? This was also a very fast read which really helped keep up the thriller vibe. It was also interesting to read the author lived through a similar experience (on a much smaller scale) which told me the emotions and reactions were probably pretty spot on. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this; the opinion is my own.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5That scary call, a distorted voice with a chilling threat, came on an ordinary Wednesday. Alice Henderson, a journalist for the local newspaper, was sent to the edge of her seat. However, such sickening threats did not stop just yet; instead more hostile and disturbing messages were stalking Alice every Wednesday since.Hence, Alice’s nightmare began, and her life was in great danger!!The boyfriend hired a private investigator, Matthew Hill, to dig deeper on the stalker as well as to keep her safe on those terrifying Wednesdays. And then, Matthew discovered that Alice had her own dark past and secrets!!This is my first book by Teresa Driscoll, and I love its thrilling dark secrets and web of twists and turns! I am looking forward reading her future thrillers!!Thank you Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to enjoy this good thriller! #Netgalley #IWillMakeYouPay
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This book is well written and unexpected. It starts off seeming to be one sort of book, and then builds. I liked that. The characters are interesting and well-developed, as is the writing itself. I would think I knew where we were headed, and then we would take a turn. It kept me wanting to pick it up and continue reading. Not going to discuss particulars, I'd rather you find them for yourself. You will enjoy finding them!Thank you to NetGalley.com and the publisher for my copy of this book!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book is absolutely brilliant. That's all I need to say. However, I'm thinking you might want a bit more detail than that somehow. It's the story of Alice Henderson, a journalist on a fairly small local paper. As the book begins, Alice has just received a call at work from a man who says he is going to cut her with cheese wire. Not exactly an average day at work, even for a journalist. She realises that this may not be the first time she's heard from this guy and yes, they appear to be linked by the fact that they always happen on a Wednesday. It's a fascinating premise for a story but what really makes this one stand out is the quality of the writing. I found I couldn't put it down and I was desperate to know who on earth was stalking Alice. Her boyfriend, Tom, hires a private investigator ex-cop called Matthew. Most of the chapters are told from Alice's point of view as she negotiates the terror that she is feeling whilst trying to get on with some semblance of normality and also dealing with a very ill mother. We also have the odd chapter that follows Matthew, his home life and the investigation. In a way, in other hands these chapters might not have fitted at all, but again the writing and the way Driscoll pulls all the threads together make it work incredibly well.We also hear about a young boy, living with his gran, growing up with little money and a difficult life at times. Yet he knows real love from his gran and he loves her in turn. How these sections link in isn't clear but I was gripped by them. I kept trying to put the strands together but I couldn't for a long time and I love that the author did such a great job of keeping me wondering.I'm very disappointed now that I've not read any of Teresa Driscoll's books before. If they're like this one then I've missed out. I won't make that mistake again. I Will Make You Pay is thrilling, chilling, moving at times, and I was totally unnerved by it. What an awful situation for Alice. It's a psychological thriller with a very human element which made me care for the characters, and an edge of the seat vibe. Perfect, I would say!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Review of Advance Reader’s Copy --- Uncorrected ProofEvery Wednesday, a mysterious caller victimizes journalist Alice Henderson with cruel threats. She believes it to be a hoax against the newspaper until the Wednesday threats intensify and it becomes clear that it is they are really all about Alice. But Alice’s articles on the need for replacing a run-down, damp housing complex have earned her popular support, so the reason for the threats is a mystery. As the Wednesday warnings escalate, the stalker sets his sights on Alice’s family. Can Alice uncover the reason for the threats before she comes face to face with an unthinkable reality?Filled with unexpected reveals and some surprising twists, “I Will Make You Pay is, by turns, disturbing, suspenseful, and heart-wrenching. Told from multiple points of view, [but mostly from Alice], the story spins out over past and present, weaving a tapestry that ultimately connects all the threads from each of the characters in an unexpected denouement that changes everything readers think they know. Pulled into the story from the first page, readers will find this quick read tale builds suspense as the pages turn. The timeline shifts from past to present, from Alice to a young [unidentified] boy and his grandmother, Martha. Alice’s backstory is more complete; readers may wish the story of Martha and her grandson had a bit more elaboration. One of the brightest spots in the telling of the tale is Alice’s love for her mother. The scenes between Alice, Leanne, and their mother are the highlights of the narrative.
