Tense thriller…

In this tense thriller, ambitious attorney Kate Magda gets her dream assignment when she’s made the lead prosecutor on a high-profile serial killer case. Getting a conviction would prove that she’s a force to be reckoned with in her own right, and not just the daughter of the well-respected (and well-connected) Judge Tommy Magda. Quickly though, she begins to believe that she has mysterious ties to the killer, and that she may be his next victim.

Descriere

Up-and-coming Mission County, Pennsylvania, prosecutor Kate Magda has been given the assignment of a lifetime: lead counsel on a string of murders rocking the community. As the privileged daughter of a powerful local judge, Kate views the case as her chance to show her boss, her family, and the public that she is more than just “the judge’s daughter.”

As Kate delves into the case, she becomes convinced that she shares a personal link with the killer, who seems to know intimate details about a tragic childhood event from Kate’s past—an event she’d long been trying to forget. Paranoia sets in, the night terrors return, and Kate has a strong sense that she’s the killer’s next victim. She no longer feels assigned to the case...she is the case, and solving it is her only chance for survival.

Great, fast-paced suspense novel! I enjoyed the characters and look forward to learning more about them in a sequel.

Let’s see - maybe if the characters didn’t change ages all the time. Plus the author is actually an attorney and doesn’t know the difference between prison and jail? Or probable cause? Dreadful. I only finished listening to it bécasse I was on a long walk and had nothing else to listen to lol.

Kept me interested to the end. Good character development, twisty but believable plot. Recommended.

I don’t like the reliance on the vulgar language to replace depth of character and plot. It really didn’t feel worth continuing to listen.

It is an okay story. But the pace of it is way too slow and not that suspenseful. I mean when you reach the plot twist you're like "meh".
And at the end, the story continues further, even when the plot was finished. I felt like i was reading another book.
I think maybe it was left open for future book deals, but i think the entire plot of the next book is discussed in this ending.
The agent's perspective story was more interesting than Kate's.
