      Fancy Nancy is all grown up and ready for a new adventures. Nancy Clancy is a new series from Jane O'Conner that will help little girls transition from Fancy Nancy Picture books to early chapter books with Nancy Clancy. Nancy and her best friend Bree are ready to solve a mystery. They have a fabulous trench coat, spy glass and other accessories for solving the mystery. When a crime occurs in the classroom can Bree and Nancy figure out the clues to solve the case?

      Nancy and her best friend Bree are all set to solve mysteries -- they have fabulous trench coats, a base of operations, and they've been studying the Nancy Drew series for inspiration. They are soon faced with not one, but two mysteries: a neighborhood friend is behaving in a peculiar manner, and an item goes missing at school. Can Nancy and Bree solve the mysteries like real detectives?This is shaping up to be a cute early chapter book series. Nancy, though precocious as ever, manages to be less annoying than some of her literary counterparts (Junie B. Jones, I'm looking at you), and though older readers will easily solve the mysteries, the target audience of the series will have a great time discovering clues along with Nancy.I listened to the audiobook, and my only quibble with it was the handling of Nancy and Bree's "secret code:" the key to the code is included in the book, and in the audiobook the entire key is read aloud where it appears in the book. "A equals C, B equals D, C equals E . . ." does not make for scintillating listening, and it doesn't make sense to include it in an audiobook. Other than that, I thought the audiobook narration was well done.

      A chapter book version from the Fancy Nancy series! And pretty confusing at first, as it looked like a Nancy Drew book with a new cover. Even more trippy that the Nancy in this book loves the Nancy from that book! Anyway, Nancy Clancy and her friend Bree try to solve a mystery with the twins and one with a missing marble. Good enough for my 5 year old!

      This very girly detective, Nancy Clancy, with her best friend, Bree, are partners in crime. they take every opportunity to do their detective work. Great starter chapter book for children; filled with intrigue, crime scenes, suspects, and confessions. Good lessons are taught about getting to the bottom of things before jumping to conclusions.

      I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC of Nancy Clancy: Super Sleuth Book One, which I finished in about thirty minutes. It was a swift read, where Jane O’ Connor leads me into the world of Fancy Nancy’s adventures as an aspiring detective. I admit, I am not much of a children’s book read anymore. I remember loving the Junie B. Jones series as a child and Nancy echoed some of Junie’s quirks, in the best possible way. Fancy Nancy has her brand of brimming curiosity and vigor, trailing her wherever she goes. Fancy Nancy is fun. She loves her flashy pink trenchcoat, reading Nancy Drew, and conjuring up secret codes with her best friend. She reminds me of my own childhood, in love with secret codes and passing notes (I learned sign language from a picture book in third grade because it was the fad…in third grade. Who likes to be left out if your friends are talking about you?) Connor brings out Nancy’s charms flawlessly.While Connor weaves in the two mysteries seamlessly, the story ends up jumbled together. The denouement read like a race to the finish. The ending was not as predictable as I thought which was a definite plus. Perhaps its because I haven’t read a Fancy Nancy book before that I was still a stranger to the supporting characters: Bree, the twins, her younger sister. I had no idea who the twins were to Nancy; were they friends or just neighbors? What are they doing in her room? Why is she in their yard? The book was well paced and raises good moral messages: tell the truth (it will make people less furious with you when you break their stuff) and don’t jump into conclusions and blame your peers. Overall, a pleasant read though not quite memorable. I can imagine the eight year old me, devouring and befriending the fun, quirky Fancy Nancy in no time.

      I've only been peripherally aware of the whole Fancy Nancy craze (you can't help but be in a bookstore that has a children's section)--I don't have children or friends with children of the target age for those books. But when I heard that there was a new series starting with a slightly older Nancy, I decided to give it a try.In "Nancy Clancy Super Sleuth", the very precocious Nancy and her good friend Bree are very, very much inspired by the updated Nancy Drew series, and have turned their clubhouse into a detective agency. Through great diligence, they uncover crime here, there and everywhere. It's plenty of fun, but what I most appreciated about the book is it's continued effort to increase vocabulary. I have a feeling this series will be just as beloved as the first.

      This was a really great way to move this series to an older audience and introduce mystery. As an adult I was even looking for clues and trying to work out the plot. There were twists and turns and more of the famous fancy words Nancy is known for. We will eagerly look forward to book two.

    CHAPTER 1

    Nancy Clancy was all set to solve a mystery. She had a fancy magnifying glass complete with rhinestones. She had a spiral notepad and a flashlight. She had sunglasses, a hat with a floppy brim, and a pink trench coat. (A trench coat was the kind of raincoat that detectives wore.) She had superb detective skills. She was naturally nosy. So she was good at snooping. (Investigating was the professional word for snooping.)

    Really the only thing Nancy was missing was a mystery.

    If only more criminals lived around here, she said to her father. He was at the kitchen table reading the Sunday sports pages.

    What? he said without looking up.

    Nobody ever gets kidnapped. I bet there’s never been a jewel heist. Then, in case her dad didn’t know, Nancy added, That means a jewel robbery.

    Nancy sighed. I wish we lived someplace like River Heights. That was where Nancy Drew lived. Nancy loved the Nancy Drew books. She had read five so far. In River Heights, criminals are lurking around every corner.

    Mmmmm. Sounds fun, her dad murmured.

    Nancy’s mother came into the kitchen. Nancy’s little sister trailed behind her. She had on blue flippers that made a slapping sound as she walked.

    Have either of you seen JoJo’s snorkel mask? Nancy’s mom asked.

    Nancy’s little sister hardly ever took off her snorkel mask or flippers. JoJo and her friend Freddy liked to pretend they were deep-sea divers searching for buried treasure.

    Nancy’s mom poured herself coffee. We’ve looked everywhere. It’s a mystery where it went.

    Mystery! Nancy just heard the magic word. Okay, so it wasn’t a big-deal mystery. But all great detectives had to start somewhere. She spread her arms. Ta-da! Nancy Clancy, Super Sleuth, at your service.

    Aw, honey. Her mom smiled. You’ll look for it?

    Sure. My rates are very reasonable. Nancy paused. Only kidding. You’re family. So my services are free.

    Nancy went and slipped on her pink trench coat. It was important to dress like a professional. JoJo, I just need to ask you a few questions, she said, pulling the notepad from her pocket. Trust me. We’ll get to the bottom of this.

    At that moment, Bree appeared at the back door. She was wearing a trench coat too. (Hers was purple.)

    JoJo left this at our house. Bree was holding a snorkel mask.

    Thanks! Nancy’s mom said. Then she turned to Nancy. Sorry, sweetie.

    Nancy scowled. Her first case was closed before it even got opened.

    I have to pick up a book for my mother. It’s at the twins’ house, Bree told Nancy. Come with me.

    CHAPTER 2

    The book for Bree’s mom was in the Polskys’ mailbox. Nancy and Bree were about to walk back home when Bree held a finger to her lips. Shh. Listen.
