I have loved every book in this series and after the cliffhanger ending in Pray for Dawn I was really looking forward to this book. It didn't disappoint though there were a couple of things that irritated me. I'll get to the good stuff first. I was thrilled that Wait for Dusk picked right up where Pray for Dawn left off as I was itching to find out what had happened to Mira. Finally finding out Mira's real parentage was a very interesting twist that I wasn't expecting and was oh so very cool. Her father's the God of Chaos and Mischief? How frakkin cool is that? Though it's scary for Mira, I love the concept and it opened up the storyline to turn Mira into a bigger bad ass than she'd been throughout the series. I found that very exciting. This book was by far the bloodiest of the series but it was necessary and fun. I love seeing Mira's interactions with Valerio and seriously think that he deserves a book of his own. Well that or a prequel book that shows Mira's relationship with Valerio. They are a lot of fun together. I'm thrilled that the whole issue with Macaire was resolved in this book and look forward to seeing what will happen with Jabari in the next installment. It was nice to see that Stephan actually has a heart. Since Mira gave him what he wanted and needed I'm curious to see where his loyalty will now be. Now on to the things that bothered me and kept me from giving this book 5 stars. One of my favorite characters was killed off just when he started to get really interesting and though I understand it was necessary for Mira to find her inner bad ass, I didn't like it. The only other thing that bothered me (and it really bothered me more than it should have) is the fact that after 5 books of intense buildup between Mira and Danaus and waiting and waiting for them to finally do the deed, the scene was extremely disappointing. I found the scene between Mira and Danaus in Pray for Dawn more exciting and sensual and there was no sex involved. I guess every author has their strengths and weaknesses and I gotta say that sexual situations are definitely Jocelynn Drake's weakness. I understand now why she put the sex off for as long as she did. Even with the boring sex the book was great. I can't wait to see what happens next.

It was my favorite book in the whole series so far. It was the most fun I've had reading a book all year. This is the 5th book in her Dark Days Series. We are brought back to Mira's POV which is something that I was happy to see. I loved Pray for Dawn from Danaus's POV but I rather prefer the books from Mira's. The dynamic with the characters in the book are so much better than in previous books (not that there were problems in other books they are all great). You see a little more of Stephen and Valerio which was great. However you are never sure if they are to stand with Mira and Danaus or to betray them in the end. Questions are answered which is as much a good thing as a bad thing for Mira. While you learn who Mira is and where she comes from it brings fresh wave of danger for Mira and Danaus. With her enemies plotting against her will she and Danaus come out on the top also will Danaus be there with her in the end or will he betray her? I have to say the ending was a startling and amazing at the same time it left me gasping for air… I just loved this new book I give it 5 Stars!!

Drake does it again! With various lycanthropes, warlocks, vampires, naturi and bori all wanting Mira dead, she has more than her hands full. What’s a fire starter to do?Thank heavens for Danaus, an honest-to-goodness vampire slayer with unusual powers of his own who just so happens to be on Mira’s side. Go figure! With their powers entwined—when needed—countless friends ready to help…and even a few “associates”, add to that an endless supply of rage, and you have the makings for one hell of a fight!Mira’s father is Satan himself—goes by the name of Nick—and enjoys torturing her in very special and colorful ways. Having the ability to use and manipulate fire, I guess she’s her father’s daughter. Seriously though, in this continuation from “Pray for Dawn”, Drake kept me on the edge of my seat once again. Putting this book down was nothing short of the same torture her characters endured on this fabulous journey she’s created. No one does it better than Jocelynn Drake. Only she could make a romance between a vampire and slayer and make it believable, beautiful and fun to read.Thank you, Jocelynn, for showing me what vampires can do and what they’re about. Thank you for weaving together a great tale of danger, intrigue, violence, loyalty, sacrifice and love. I have a new genre to read and add to my quickly growing repertoire. I can’t wait for the next book!Reviewed by Terri Ann Armstrong for Suspense Magazine, author of “Morning Menace”

More Yummy Fun! This one switches back to Mira's POV. Ooooh, the cliff hanger. A new twist is added to Mira's life. Mira, Danaus and the gang are in Budapest killing naturi, vampires, werewolves, warlocks and witches. And Rowe helps out Mira! What? Or does he?I am looking forward to the next one. Now I just have to wait nine months. *Taps fingers impatiently on desk.*

Although I have loved this series since its beginning, I was a little underwhelmed by this book. I liked it, don't misunderstand, I'm just qualifying that I didn't like it as much as the previous books. Nevertheless, everything I enjoy about this series was present. Mira is a fabulous character, with plenty of complexity to keep her interesting even five books in. And Danaus is as entertaining as ever. It's particular fun, now, viewing him from Mira's perspective once more after glimpsing his view in the last book. I suppose my big complaint about this book is the pacing ... I don't think there was a good flow all throughout. Now, having finished the book, I can only remember snippets and flashes. Thus, only three and a half stars from me.

Originally published on my blog, My Urban FantasiesWait For Dusk starts seconds after where Pray For Dawn ends. Mira has just been kidnapped by the "witch" who helped Danaus and Mira banish the bori. The "witch" is actually a shapeshifting god who's been know by many names including Loki, Coyote and Raven. He asks Mira to call him Nick, short for Old Nick which is another name for Satan. Nick is also Mira's biological father. Although Nick is super pissed that Mira has become a nightwalker, he has decided to modify his plans instead of just killing her. Mira has to complete a task before Nick decides to move forward with those plans. Mira has to learn to take control of Danaus' and Jabori's powers. Nick refuses to let anyone have control of Mira other than himself of course. If Mira fails, Nick will make her human again and force Mira to have his child. Eww. And that's just the first chapter!Valerio shows up a few minutes after Nick has left Mira. It's time for Mira to take her place on the coven. Things suck for Mira, as usual, when she arrives in Venice but the danger does not truly begin until Mira arrives in Budapest to rid it of the naturi. In Wait For Dust Mira is fighting on several different fronts. Mira's sure Macaire wants her dead, the naturi are attacking, to make Nick happy she'll have to control Jabari, there's Nick himself and the one person who Mira trusted most betrays her. If it was not for the book blurb I would have never seen Danaus' betrayal coming. It's sad, some of it could have been avoided if Mira and Danaus' actually talked to each other like adults.Wait For Dusk is definitely worth 4 stars. I loved watching the relationship between Mira and Danaus develop, despite the fact that Danaus acted like a rat bastard. This book is definitely a must read.
