About this ebook
”I’ll read anything she writes” — Emily Henry, #1 New York Times bestselling author
The perfect book for Sex and the City and Emily in Paris fans, I Heart New York by Lindsey Kelk truly celebrates the city that never sleeps.
It’s official. Angela Clarke is in love—with the most fabulous city in the world.
When Angela catches her boyfriend with another woman at her best friend’s wedding, she’s heartbroken and desperate to run away. (Especially once she’s confronted the bride and inadvertently broken the groom’s hand, in front of the entire reception!) Fleeing the messy situation and clutching little more than a crumpled bridesmaid dress, a pair of Louboutins, and her passport, Angela jumps on a plane, destination—NYC.
Taking refuge in a charming hotel room, Angela befriends Jenny, an effervescent concierge on the lookout for a new best friend. With the help of a New York-style makeover, some serious retail therapy, and a whirlwind tour of the city, Angela finds herself juggling two irresistibly sexy men and landing her dream gig as a writer, chronicling her New York adventures for a prestigious fashion magazine. But while it's one thing to dish about your romantic escapades to readers, it's quite another to unravel the complexities of your own heart. Angela may have fallen head over heels for the Big Apple, but is her love for New York stronger than her ties back home?
I Heart New York is funny, sunny, and sexy; a big hearted, Big Apple treat for Sofia Kinsella and Emily Griffin readers.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Witty and funny, just fine for lazy days. On the other hand, this book makes you want to just take your bag and leave for a NY weekend.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I enjoyed reading this book and it didn't take long because I wanted to find out more. I found it reminded me of myself running away from a break up and I went to NY to get away but I did go back home after 6 months. This book did have some errors but I still had laughs while reading it. I didn't like the ending either because it left you hanging but can't wait to read the next one.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Light hearted NYC based chick lit. Angela is a relatively likeable main character and I loved the sense of New York. Easy light hearted read.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It's funny, I recently read One Day by David Nicholls and was less than complimentary. Now here I am reading chick-lit and actually enjoying it.
So, this was an accidental read - got to the park & ride for my trip through to Glasgow last week & realised I'd forgotten my book. Davie at the Park & Ride came to my rescue with this!
It's typical chick-lit fare: our heroine discovers her fiance is cheating on her in the most obvious way & decides to run away to New York. There she's befriended by the first female she meets & is whisked off to be re-invented. Cue lots of fashion, girly chat & the re-discovery of dating. Of course, she manages to fall into her dream job, meet her dream man (well men) and be faced with various life changing decisions.
The difference between the obviousness of One Day & the obviousness of I heart New York is the humour & style of writing. The first is a man trying to think himself into his female characters way of thinking & not quite hitting the mark. The latter is obviously written by a woman and therefore has the level of understanding of when only chocolate & rubbish TV is the answer.
A light hearted, non taxing, easy read. Ideal for 4 hours of travelling! - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I adore this book! It's absolutely brilliant!! So funny. So charming, it's what every girl who is having crisis wish she could do...run away to New York and NEVER go back! Lindsey Kelk is an excellent writer and I wish I had her level of imagination :)
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I HEART NEW YORK, by Lindsey Kelk, was a fun and fresh romantic read. Kelk created a lovely broken-hearted heroine that readers are sure to root for during her trek to New York City to reinvent herself after a terrible breakup.Right from the start I loved this book. I am a big fan of reading books where the characters are from the UK. Angela was the cutest NYC-challenged girl! Her bubbly, no-nonsence personality brought friends to her circle in droves. With the help of Jenny, Angela was able to build herself back up and start anew in this busling city. All of the characters were very "real". I could see these people existing in the melting pot that is NYC, and that made this book very dear to me. Kelk created such emotional situtations for Angela, that I felt her struggles right along with her. This to me is a sign of great writing. I connected with the setting as well. I love hopping on the train and getting lost in NYC in my own life so it was refreshing to see the sights and sounds from a new perspective. Although it was an awkward situation for Angela to balance two men in her life, I was happy with the results. I saw both of them as an experience for her that not only furthered her career but made her finally figure out where she belongs. They were both swoon-worthy and that's all I will say!I liked the added elements of shopping and eating in this book. Other books I have read in this genre do not focus on this part of a breakup and I thought it was definitely noteworthy. I did wonder at times where Angela's shopping money was coming from but it did not hinder my experience. And I love a girl who can eat! Personally, when I am in a situation of great stress I bring on the ice cream and cookies as well. Overall, this was a great book about starting over and finding yourself even when it seems hopeless. I can't wait to read the continuation of this series.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This book is a little love letter to New York with a lovely chick lit plot thrown in. The main character, Angela, runs away to New York when she finds her boyfriend cheating on her, and tries to rediscover herself in a brand new city.
I loved all of the New York details, and I loved the cast of characters Kelk created. I did find it a little challenging when some of the advice being given to Angela about how and who she should date was so different to my own views, but I couldn't think of leaving the book and I was glad I didn't.
I've seen that there are now two more books in this series featuring Hollywood and Paris, I shall definitely be reading them. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Nice, funny, original and unexpected. Liked it!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Glorious fun; I enjoyed this from start to finish, and I'm a diehard crusader against Sex and the City (which some people might compare this too). There's certainly lots of shopping but fortunately, unlike SATC, the characters are actually very likeable and pretty funny. Will definitely read the rest of the series.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5For someone who is a fan of Sophie Kinsella's book, i enjoyed reading this book. The plot is light and easy with main story focusing on Angela who discovered that her fiance of 10 years has been cheating on her at her friend's wedding. And the worst thing is that all her friends know about it. Without a place to go, she decided to go to New York on her own to rediscover herself again without her fiance. The story then focused on her journey in New York, with her discover new friends and places to go. Her betrayal by her fiance and subsequent runaway has make her new friends envied for her daring action and when The Look's editor engaged her to write a diary on her journey and adventure in New York, Angela became an instant celebrity. I like Angela's character very much. She may sound as though she is crazy but she is in fact very brave. Willing to take the risk and venture out to the unknown land something that i believe not all of us dare to do so and i am just not the one. Although at times, she seems to cause some blunders but i guess she did learnt from the mistakes she make. This is the first of the I Heart series and i am definitely going to read the remaining books in time to come.
