    Who Is A ‘Terrorist’?

    "He who is deprived of gentleness is deprived of good."

    ‘Terrorism’ is the systematic use of terror. At present, there is no internationally agreed definition for the word ‘terrorism’. Common definitions of terrorism refer only to those acts which are intended to create fear (terror), are perpetrated for an ideological goal (as opposed to an isolated attack), and deliberately target or disregard the safety of non-combatants (www.wikipedia.com).

    A person who practices ‘terrorism’ is called a ‘terrorist’ (www.wikipedia.com).

    ‘Terrorists’ come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and religions. In the past many groups have been labeled as terrorists: Irish groups, Russian groups, German groups, American groups, Indian groups, Hispanic groups, Arab groups, Jewish groups, and the list goes on.

    In his book, Inside Terrorism, Bruce Hoffman wrote in ‘Chapter One: Defining Terrorism,’ that,

    "On one point, at least, everyone agrees: terrorism is a pejorative term. It is a word with intrinsically negative connotations that is generally applied to one's enemies and opponents, or to those with whom one disagrees and would otherwise prefer to ignore. 'What is called terrorism,' Brian Jenkins has written, 'thus seems to depend on one's point of view. Use of
