      Introduction

      There are thousands of books, lectures, ashrams, religions, and other approaches to developing spirituality.

      All of these processes have value to the spiritual seeker.

      There is also a high level of interest today in life extension through scientific, herbal, medical, spiritual, and even technological means.

      Why the desire to live longer?

      Could this be related to our search for meaning in life?

      I’ve been a student of the spiritual and paranormal since my teen years and have meditated and done spiritual development practices for close to forty years.

      In the last several years I also made myself into an expert on physical immortality and extended longevity. The history, the practices, and possible immortals I’ve met.

      As a result of my studies and experiences I have reached some conclusions on how the enlightenment practices and the desire for physical immortality are not only related but critically interdependent on each other.

      We generally need more time to develop our spiritual potential in this life, and so some of the basic reasons to desire extended longevity have to do with more potential for spiritual growth in the current incarnation.
