    Introduction

    In August 1996, I attended the Western Amateur in Benton Harbor, Michigan and watched Tiger Woods play two qualifying rounds prior to match play. This was one of the last amateur tournaments Tiger played in before turning professional.

    Not only was I in awe of Tiger's ball striking, but I was equally amazed at how solid his putting was. It seemed like every putt he hit, no matter the length or difficulty, had a chance to go in the hole.
