I didn't think I would get any useful ideas from Yudkin's book, but I'm glad to have been proven wrong. In 30 minutes, you could also get a few ideas on how to launch your own copywriting business with a shoestring budget.

Introduction
Since 1997, I have coached more than 75 people in retargeting their copywriting or marketing consulting practice or starting it from scratch. Based on their experience, personality, preferences and my guidance, each one created a unique plan for attracting clients. And each one – slowly or rapidly – built a uniquely targeted and positioned business.
Some of these protégés were embarking on their very first bout of self-employment, while others had owned a business for some time in a related or completely unrelated field.
Some approached finding clients in an aggressive, go-getter spirit. Others had a fair bit of trepidation, timidity or doubt about their chances for success.
All successfully met the challenge of snagging their first client, with many others to follow.
To teach a seminar on how to obtain a first copywriting client a few years ago, I sat down and tallied the strategies my protégés actually used to get their businesses off the ground. The top ten methods below are thus not theory, dogma or mere recommendations. They are approaches that worked.
You may find the list surprising in what worked most often and in what was rarely tried. More importantly, be prepared to feel empowered and inspired as you select marketing, publicity and outreach strategies that fit your circumstances, resources, goals, personality, likes and dislikes. As you’ll discover, there’s no need to gird yourself for some supposed expert’s must method
of marketing if that technique feels alien or distasteful to you.
Of the top 10 ways to get your copywriting business off the ground, six can cost nothing at all and the rest are affordable on a typical startup budget.
