Lynn has been married for thirty-two years. At the age of fifty-two and with her daughter off to college, she needed something else to do with the back half of her life. She has always had two great loves in her life beyond her faith and her family: cooking and writing. Lynn is working on three separate projects at this time. She has published the first two of ten children's stories. The Adventures of Whippy the Whale is a series of ten stories in which Whippy, a little orca whale, has adventures and learns life lessons. Lynn hopes these stories will foster communication between the young child listening and the parent reading the story. She believes parental input on proper behavior is necessary and should not be left up to the schools or daycare facilities to provide—community should start in the home. The child looks to the parent for leadership. When we as parents renege on that responsibility, it is our children and our community who pay the price. As a volunteer for several years teaching adult literacy in her community, she advocates teaching very young children strong vocabulary skills to eradicate illiteracy altogether. Her children's books have expanded vocabulary words that are underlined and bold-faced within the text, and defined in an easy-to-understand glossary at the back of each book. The second project Lynn is working on is an adventure book for "tweens." This is a book she first wrote when she was in her thirties. It was written as an adult novel, but Lynn has been working to rewrite the book to appeal to a much younger audience. Showcasing her love of cooking, Lynn is also doing an exhaustive work on her first cookbook. For years she and her husband have gardened and Lynn has preserved the food they have grown. "What to Do with What You Grew" explains the different preservation techniques of food, as well as shares many scrumptious recipes using those fresh or preserved garden ingredients. She wants younger generations to learn from her lifetime of failures and successes in preserving food. She hopes to publish her cookbook by the end of 2014. Thank you for visiting Lynn's bio page.
