    A Day for Thanks

    Today is very special

it comes but once a year

    Something wonderful happened

so great all have to cheer

    Similar to the heavens

    just like the Milky Way

    A star was found shining

    on this special day

    Once a cute little toddler

with the most curious of eyes

    Two parents standing proudly

    thankful for their baby prize

    Through love and nurturing

    they watched a flower blossom

With the aid of father time

    the end result was awesome

So many lives you have touched

    a benevolent hand you extend

    Anyone that's ever known you

    will always call you friend

    Blessed with an amazing smile

as special as a rainbow's hue

You make the world a better place

may your birthday wish come true

    Aftermath

How could I have been so unaware?

It happened so many years ago.

When you needed help, no one was there.

    A mistake made beyond repair;

your lively face had lost its glow.

How could I have been so unaware?

A heavy burden you couldn't bear,

friends and family left to feel woe.

When you needed help, no one was there.

Best of friends but you couldn't share,

why you did it I'll never know.

How could I have been so unaware?

    The choice you made was so unfair;

you'll never see your siblings grow.

When you needed help, no one was there.

In memory on this day we say a prayer,

it leaves me cold as falling snow.

How could I have been so unaware?

When you needed help, no one was there.
