About this ebook

Warning: this story includes both explicit language about sex and graphic depictions of sex itself.

Russel Middlebrook is a gay teen who’s been through a lot. He’s the lead character in Brent Hartinger’s Lambda Award-winning Russel Middlebrook Series. And he’s also the star of Geography Club, the book that started it all and that has now been adapted as a feature film co-starring Scott Bakula and Ana Gasteyer.

But now Russel is facing his biggest challenge yet: getting tested to find out if he has HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. Along the way, he recalls some of his own most important sexual experiences.

This free short story is part of The Real Story Safe Sex Project, a volunteer organization started by Brent Hartinger, using fictional characters to spread the word about HIV/AIDS and safe sex to gay and bi male teens and twentysomethings.

Ha! never thought Russel had great sex life. I mean, they probably had intimate moments with the guy he was currently dating but we weren't given as much detail as this short story did. And lol. I literally laugh out loud upon hearing the doctor's name.

This short story is plenty educational. It's about an important issue for the gay community: HIV/AIDS. The main character finds himself having a chat with a counselor in a gay health clinic. He learns basic facts on the HIV transmission, and how to have safer sex. And as he learns it, you learn it too. It's an enlightening text, full of interesting information that opens eyes on the subject, highlighting facts that not everyone knows.
It's a useful reading and a slightly erotic too (thanks to the reminiscence of the sex adventures of the main character).

Safe sex lecture hidden within a thin veneer of a short story.
