About this ebook
In Zen and The Art of Nutrition you will learn about the dangers of fast food and eating out. You will also learn how high fat meals and a high stress lifestyle can kill. If you make a concerted effort to reduce your consumption of fast food, and eat more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, you will begin to change your diet to a low fat high fiber one, and once you do you will notice the difference and begin feeling better. You will learn the importance of physical fitness and nutrition and how they complement each other. You will become aware of nutritional dysfunction and your metabolism. Consumers will try to diet to lose weight and that is admirable. However most dieters think that eating less is the best diet, but the true synergistic diet is not only eating less, but what you are eating along with an exercise program and fiber, vitamin, and mineral supplements. You will also learn how to increase your metabolism and energy levels. Most people are so hung up on fats that they stay away from them altogether. That's not good as some fats are essential to good health. You will understand the relationship of good fats, bad fats, and hydrogenation. You will learn about carbohydrates and two kinds of fiber. Carbohydrates play a significant role in a healthy diet and they are absolutely necessary in providing nutrients as well as energy. You will also learn about organic foods, phytochemicals, and pesticides. You most likely have seen the small section of certified organic produce in your local supermarket and realized that it does not look as appealing as the rest of the produce. That is because of the chemicals used by commercial growers to make their fruits and vegetables last longer and look better. After all most produce goes on a long journey from the farm to the supermarket. You will learn the truth about whole grains. All whole grains are not created or processed equally. You will definitely want to know about hormone injected products that you don’t need. You will understand the different sources of calcium. You will also understand the quality, handling, and preparation of meats. This book also has tips to help you eat healthier, I’m sure you have heard it a million times that less salt or no salt is better for your health, it some ways that may be true, but I don’t think you are getting the whole story. Learn the real story behind salt, and sugar and sweetener alternatives. You will be enlightened about antioxidants and super foods. This book will also point out some nasty ingredients in the foods you buy and what to be on the lookout for. There is information in this book about heart health and statin medication and the relationship between homocystene and cholesterol levels.
