whether your precious baby just turned 6 or 16, one of the many joys (and pains) of parenthood is throwing a fabulous birthday party. We are sure you’ve seen those infamous Sweet Sixteen episodes that have you looking at the television like Who in the heck…
and left your child anxiously awaiting their sixteenth birthday soiree. At this point, you need to sit your baby on down and express to them that although their birthday party will be fabulous, you will not be taking out a second mortgage on the house to have baby tigers walk them out to greet their friends. However, being the Get ’Em Girl that you are, not only will the party still be fabulous, the food will be absolutely delicious!
Here are some tips for planning a successful party for a child of any age:
Keep the food familiar, simple, and delicious.
Today is not the day to try and introduce a group of hungry children to the new prune and pomegranate cobbler you’ve been working on for the last 30 days.
Have fun activities planned.
You can plan a simple dance contest for the Chris Brownesque teens, or set up a create-your-own tee shirt table, overflowing with fabric paints, rhinestones, and stencils.
Keep the music clean and current.
We know you want to break out your Marvin Gaye’s Greatest Hits CD, but remember this party is for the kids. Sit down with your child and create a playlist tailored to both of your likings; and if a DJ is not in the budget, a digital media player plugged into the speakers will work perfectly
