About this ebook

T
his book is for those who wish to sell books or similar merchandise on the internet either through on-line retailers like Amazon, iBookstore, Android (through Apps) and through their own website. This book is NOT about quick schemes to gain riches nor is it about me as a millionaire sitting in some exquisite island feasting on sun, sea and women. It is about a way to create reasonable recurring income to alleviate all fears of financial destitution. I make a reasonable living from my books and yes maybe one day I'll hit 'the mother lode' but until then I have many books making reasonable sums of money which is in fact the way I like it.
Think about it if you have many books published on many platforms you are diversifying your risk of loss of income through some catastrophe that could hit one or several of your books. Diversifying in books, retail platforms and personal websites minimizes the risk of financial crisis.
So to this end I show you exactly what tools you need, platforms to publish on (including creating apps for the android) and the marketing required to get your book or merchandise visible through the best social media outlets.
I am also conscious of costs and I will show you how to get your work published at the lowest cost possible with the minimum amount of work required. There is always a balance between costs and speed, but I can assure you there is a very cost-effective happy medium.
Starting any form of business on the internet whether it is selling books, software or any other type of merchandise, is fraught with problems. The internet or on-line market place is massive and is growing exponentially so unless you have a very clear view of what you want to sell and how you intend to sell it you will be overwhelmed by the options and the 'hype' around selling on the 'net'.
I started my own publishing business back in 2008 and spent considerable time and money on what I believed to be the best way of getting knowledge to setup an on-line business. Many years later I perfected a much easier way of getting a business up and running by focusing on a few key essentials rather than the smoke and mirrors of the get instantly rich schemes as hatched by most on-line marketers.
To help you through the process I have created short videos on YouTube that you can link to directly from the eBook, Appendix9. Each video is short, with the purpose of highlighting a few key points in this book. Some maybe longer but remember it is the quality not the quantity that you should be seeking!
This book is dedicated to those authors and entrepreneurs that want to earn a living from selling on the internet and make a solid living in a business that you own and operate so that no longer will your lifestyle be at the mercy of some employer!

    Preface

This book is for those who wish to sell books or similar merchandise on the internet either through 'on-line' retailers and mobile Apps and through their own website. Read this book before purchasing any 'on-line' course, it may save you a lot of wasted money. The book covers the complete gambit from manuscript to published book covering manuscript formatting, image handling, publishing sites, social media and much much more……

This book is NOT about quick schemes to gain riches nor is it about me as a millionaire sitting in some exquisite island feasting on sun, sea and food. It is about a way to create reasonable recurring income to alleviate all fears of financial destitution. I make a reasonable living from my books and yes maybe one day I'll hit 'the mother lode' but until then I have many books making reasonable sums of money which is in fact the way I like it.

Think about it, if you have many books published on many platforms you are diversifying income loss by minimizing the risk of a catastrophe that could hit one or several of your books. Diversifying in books, retail platforms and personal websites mitigates the risk of financial instability.

So to this end I show you exactly what tools you need, platforms to publish on (including creating apps for the android and iphone) and the marketing required to get your book or merchandise visible through the most suitable social media outlets.

The internet or 'on-line' market place is massive and is growing exponentially so unless you have a very clear view of what you want to sell and how you intend to sell it, you will be overwhelmed by the options and the 'hype' around selling on the 'net'.

I started my own publishing business back in 2008 and spent considerable time and money on what I believed to be the best way of getting knowledge to setup an 'on-line' business. Many years later I perfected a much easier way of getting a business up and running by focusing on a few key essentials rather than the smoke and mirrors of the get instantly rich schemes as hatched by many 'on-line' marketers.

To help you through the process, I have created short videos on YouTube that you can link to directly from this ebook, Appendix9. Each video is short, with the purpose of highlighting a few key points.

    Introduction

Making money in today's world has limited options; join a business, have a boss and get paid what your boss thinks you're worth or build a business without a boss and make your own fortune. Both approaches have many unforeseen pitfalls; however you have the option of doing both. In fact that is exactly how I established my business on the internet and how I recommend this to you. Despite what anyone else tells you, it takes time to develop your own business and so you need to make sure you have income until your business becomes solvent, which in reality may take many years.

There really are no true shortcuts to making money on the internet but the process itself can be streamlined to make publishing easy and fun. Making money from the internet requires some technical skills and probably the most difficult are the marketing strategies. For example you may write and self-publish your own book or build your own website but the next real problem is how to get your book or merchandise in front of people's eyes.

Consider this; there are billions of websites and trillions of 'on-line' books. So the challenge is great but if you carefully pick your specialized areas or niches you will be able to quickly become the expert and so create recurring income from that niche.

There is no such thing as developing your 'on-line' business for free. You need spend TIME and you will have to outlay some CASH. As with everything else in life you have to spend time and effort learning using the right tools to make your business flourish. If wisely done both the time and cash can be kept to a minimum but don't think it can be done for nothing no matter what you hear from others. I explain later in this book how to keep time and costs to a minimum but expect to shelve out a few hundred dollars on tools. Never ever buy anything 'on-line' in the hundreds or thousands of dollars as you will be wasting your money. Never purchase recurring licenses especially monthly unless you really have to! If you do, make sure when it is no longer giving you value to stop the payments - most people forget and waste money on useless outdated or irrelevant information. Most of what you need; will either be free or under a $100 onetime payment. Keep this in mind!

    Before I launch into the streamlined process of publishing books, or to that matter any type of digital information, there are a few major pitfalls you must avoid. These are;

Internet marketing scams: Primarily the get rich quick schemes, shortcut to internet millions, magic tricks to get instant visibility, 'black hat' tricks, secrets that companies don't want you to know etc., etc. I can go on forever on this subject as there are so many ridiculous schemes that trick you into believing in instant success.

Internet marketing webinars: Same idea but a lot more subtle. These webinars, which are many, will sell you every tool and approach to selling on the internet either at an instant fabulously low cost or will hook you into joining their 'coven' for a low monthly income! Avoid these like the 'plague'. Most approaches have a very limited 'shelf-life' and unless it solves an immediate problem you are likely never to use them and so you have wasted your own money. Especially avoid those webinars that have 'tons' of videos' and documents to watch and read unless you have an extraordinary amount of spare time to waste; avoid these like the 'bubonic plague'. However the webinars are great to generate ideas but that is just about it.

The prebuilt websites, apps and any other internet tool: Think about it, everyone will try
