is the full title of the book in contrary to its more popularly known title 'The Hobbit'.
2. The Hobbit
was first published in USA, by the Houghton Mifflin publishing house, in the beginning part of 1938.
3. The story of The Hobbit, or There and Back Again
was first told to Tolkien's children as a tale. As a result, a precise time cannot be mentioned. But believed written sometime between 1929 to 1936 in Oxford.
4. Tolkien had a letter to W. H. Auden in 1955 wherein he mentioned working on The Hobbit
