a free verse for catterpillar moon
arc of moon
abstract lightning veins
and rivers a caterpillar gaze
a midnight thunder
haybarn night of blackness
and cornfield dream
a free verse for catterpillar moon too
rain moonlight
prismatic droplets
thunderous intensity
black caterpillar
sprouted birchleaf
umbrella bemused
alice approaches
with capital idea
contentment wonders
ortho correlate
time extant living
as placed mirrored
a flower of white
a shooting star lights
like a flower trace
across my vision
disappears
without a sound
a fire
leaving no remains
in the nightsky
time is divided
in my heart
A Painting
Abstract, surreal
in a field of history
strewn with artifacts
that age deciphers,
as with the depiction
of sound waves
coming with the tide-
Wisdom expresses
this music of life
expiring
as reasons for history
move to dance
and preserve the words
daubed-
Solipsist
who endears the self
centered with knowledge,
conjure death, you
hold the key
to understanding
oneself-
Notes to words abound where once Dali occurred.
I invoke death in flight seeking truth in realism.
In shapes transmogrified from earthly sources-
a painting.
a still sultry heat
in nightsea
endeavors
one notices
the advent
of new weather
with sense
of dragonfly
hearing ship

a still sultry heat
arising to the grasp
a sudden squall
felling a mast
this wetness
vapor stung sight
suddenly new
insect flight
wet wings

ABACUS
O promontory. O stone crypt.
Island of night jutting out to sea.
A lighthouse looms, daubed gently by time.
I mourn...
the moonlit aftermath of storm-
apparition of angularity, ode to fear
edging rock near a spray flecked shore.
Extinguished by the history of tides,
formations of reefs lapped by ocean swells;
turbulent waters ride the tide-
the gulf bisects two shelves
shoring upon purple cliffs.
Blackgull ! : rise from this tower’s dusty hearth.
Soar into moonsky high above the gulf.
Wend signs of infinity, draw cliffside.
A body crossed with timeless wings,
raven hues swooping ‘neath the fullest moon
Show down and remiges glistening of gold.
Grey indigo shadow: gallop over ocean swells !
Froth tipped crest
welling out of trough,
ripping into sluiceway,
converging with the rim.
Surging seventh whip
brought to frenzy-
sucked by stormwind.
The moon watched
its golden beamlight
illumine cliff heights.
Blackgull ! : soar into space !
Grey shadow ! : oversurging waves !
A full arc, form electric alighting into calmness.
A cave inside the cliff echoing winged heartbeats-
signs emit from Blackgull’s craw, beaked into basalt.
Entering a timeless city ensconced below high grasses,
Ceilinged by glowsky generated by heathworks,
Geometric spheres mirroring plumage. Shadowless.
