    INTRODUCTION

My name is John Leahy. A few years ago, I retired as a Chief Pilot with British Airways. I also served as a test-pilot on behalf of BA, at Boeing Airplane Company in Seattle. During my 34 year career, I flew most of the Boeings, from the venerable 707 in the sixties, to the 747 - the Jumbo Jet. I'm currently an aviation auditor and consultant. One of my tasks is to observe and audit the training of pilots carried out by a leading European airline.

Over the years I have always been aware that many passengers suffer from apprehension related to flying. It ranges from mild anxiety, to a state of emotional fear and to panic attacks. It can mean that you do fly, but dislike the experience or in the worst case can't fly at all. Is this something you have ever suffered from? If so, you are most welcome to FlightCoach.com, your guide to what's going on before, and during your flight experience to ease anxiety and banish fear by putting you back in control!

We start with our Pre-Flight Briefing; what you should know before you even book your flight. Then we have a chapter called Doors Closing and a chapter on Take-off. If you are concerned about Turbulence, it is comprehensively dealt with in the next chapter, and the presentation concludes with a chapter on Descent & Landing.

The answers to some of your Frequently Asked Questions are provided at the end of this book, and many more can be found on our website Flightcoach.com.

So let's move on to chapter one - I know you'll be looking forward to getting started!
