      On The Road

      Sarah pulled her 10-year-old, well-traveled Jeep Cherokee to the tree-lined suburban curb, turned off the engine and looked on in silence at the palatial home before her. Jodie was lucky, she thought, as she always did when she visited her younger friend’s home. Sarah was the daughter of a drug addicted single mother from New Jersey, and she only met her wealthy friend after being awarded an academic scholarship to Jodie’s privileged Scarsdale, New York parochial school and starring on the school’s lacrosse team. As she became lost in thought about how quickly those high school years passed, Sarah saw the front door open, then a fluttering wave of a hand.

      Sarah! Jodie called from the grand, expansive portico as she stepped outside. Come in! What are you doing?!

      Jodie stood with her hands on her hips as Sarah exited the jeep and made her way up the flower-lined path to the house. The sweet and familiar scent reminded her of the many times she had walked that path and the special friendship she shared with Jodie. Sweet Jodie. Her long strawberry blonde hair dancing on the warm August breeze as she smiled that innocent, optimistic, enthusiastic smile that touched Sarah’s heart. Although Sarah saw much in the world to be depressed about, Jodie saw only the good, and her positive energy was infectious.

      What took you so long?! Jodie demanded with a smile and big hug as Sarah approached.

      Fender bender on Stafford Blvd. Total gridlock. Had to take the back route, Sarah replied. You Packed?

      Of course I’m packed! Jodie exclaimed, spinning on her heels and leading Sarah into her house. I’ve been packed since yesterday afternoon. I can’t wait to see this place in the rearview mirror. Believe me.

      Sarah followed Jodie’s lead and watched her friend’s round, firm buttocks gently rise and fall through the sheer, silky material of her short skirt as they traversed the spacious foyer. She felt that familiar charge of excitement between her legs as she watched Jodie walk, and she knew that Jodie was not only aware that she felt it, but she also purposely induced it. Since Sarah’s sophomore year in high school when Jodie was just a 7th grade water girl for the lacrosse team, Jodie had been in love with the older, more athletic girl and never stopped trying to seduce her. The three year age difference was too big in high school for Sarah to take any of Jodie’s come-ons seriously, but now that they were 21 and 18, it was beginning to seem like not such a big deal. Even so, Sarah remained very protective of Jodie and would never do anything to take advantage of her or hurt her. But that ass. That beautiful, sexy, perfect ass …

      Sarah, Sarah, Sarah! came a booming male voice as the girls passed the kitchen. How’s UCLA treating you? asked Jodie’s father, an overly-gregarious pharmaceutical company executive in a Brooks Brothers polo and excessive cologne. You’re going to make sure my little girl’s safe and doesn’t fall in with the wrong crowd at school, right, right? he asked with one of those I’m-a-super-friendly-guy winks and a nudge while his crisply-coiffed, Chanel-clad, medicated wife smiled blithely.

      Yes sir, of course, Sarah smiled back.

      Daddy, don’t harass her like you always do, Jodie quipped. I’m just getting my bags and we’ve got to go. She quickened her pace and headed for her bedroom while Sarah remained with her parents.

      So what route are you girls taking; northern, southern, middle? Jodie’s father continued.

      Northern through Chicago, then dropping down and catching the I-40 in Oklahoma and taking it the rest of the way out, Sarah said.
