()
About this ebook
Dr. Holly’s goal is to bring all the misconceptions in the medical sciences to public awareness. Diabetes is just one more. Did you know that diabetes has all kinds of causes? Did you know that a respiratory virus could cause diabetes? Did you know that there are all kinds of issues that can cause diabetes long before the pancreas and insulin are involved? And did you know that you could choose to manage diabetes or eliminate it?
Dr. Holly loves research and loves to uncover the hidden truths of which most physicians and health practitioners are not yet aware. Her mission is to empower, inform, and support people back into a state of optimal health on all levels of life. In addition to doing research and writing books, she is a professional speaker and she works with people as a health practitioner, not a symptom manager.
Dr. Holly Fourchalk
Dr. Holly Fourchalk practiced as a registered therapist for 20 years. During that time she questioned the fact that the brain requires nutrients to create neurons, neurotransmitters, transport systems, to fuel processes and to eliminate toxins. If one’s brain doesn’t have the sufficient nutrients and capacity to detox, she surmised, then surely that would affect one’s capacity to think, feel and function. Always working with leading edge science, she continued her research of the mind and brain outside of the psychological parameters. When she went on to study Naturopathic Medicine, she found that there were various dysfunctions, disorders and depletions in the body known to cause psychological issues, including depression and anxiety. Transferring from Naturopathic Medicine to Doctor of Natural Medicine, she also finished her Ph.D in Nutrition and a Master’s Degree in Herbal Medicine. She went to India to study Ayurvedic Medicine and followed that with studies in German Homeopathy. She continues to expand her knowledge of ways to help people heal from today’s common ailments that allopathic medicine tends to simply manage. Dr. Holly’s mission is to empower people to reach their full potential in all aspects of health. Her in-depth understanding and training, in so many different modalities of healing, allows her to address the inter-connections between the mind and body allow her to help people in ways that few others can achieve. She is a passionate health researcher and an engaging teacher. Everybody needs a Dr. Holly. Also see Dr. Holly’s other books.

DISCLAIMER
Every effort has been made by the author to ensure that the information in this book is as accurate as possible. However, it is by no means a complete or exhaustive examination of all information.
The author knows what worked for her and what has worked for others but no two people are the same and so the author cannot and does not render judgment or advice regarding a particular individual.
Further, because our bodies are unique any two individuals may experience different results from the same therapy.
The author believes in both prevention and the superiority of a natural non-invasive approach over drugs and surgery.
The information collected within comes from a variety of researchers and sources from around the world. This information has been accumulated in the Western healing arts over the past thirty years.
Research has shown that one of the top three leading causes of death in North America occurs because of the physician/pharmaceutical component of the scenario.
Perhaps the real leading cause of death and disability is a result of the lack of awareness of natural therapies. These therapies are well known to prevent and treat many common degenerative, inflammatory and oxidative diseases.
The author loves to research and loves to teach. This book is another attempt to increase awareness about health and the many options we have to bring the body back into a healthy balance.
Ever-increasing numbers of people are aware of healing foods and herbs, supplements and modalities but there are still far too many who are not. The fact that our physicians are part of this latter group makes healing even more challenging yet we are now seeing more and more laboratories around the world and more universities in and outside of the U.S. studying herbs, nutrition and various healing modalities with phenomenal success.
The unfortunate fact is, those who can profit from sickness and disease promote ignorance and the results are devastating.
It is not the intent of the author that anyone should choose to read this book and make decisions regarding their health or medical care based on ideas contained in this book.
It is the responsibility of the individual to find a health care practitioner to work with to achieve optimal health.
The author and publisher are not responsible for any adverse effects or consequences resulting from the use of any of the suggestions or information contained in the book but offer this material as information that the public has a right to hear and utilize at its own discretion.

What is wrong with modern Western Medical science?
About 90% of the patients who visit doctors have conditions that will either improve on their own or that are out of reach of modern medicine's ability to solve.
NEW ENGLAND JOURNAL OF MEDICINE, Feb 7, 1991
Diabetes is like most other imbalances in the body. There are multiple causes. In fact, there are very few diagnoses that have only one cause. But before we look at diabetes directly, let’s understand the challenges that the modern western medical sciences face.
We will start with just two issues. One is the Normalization Curve or the Bell Curve, and the other is reductionism.
Normalization Curve or the Bell Curve
The Bell Curve is a graph wherein we group the normal population
in the center versus those who fall in the extreme ends as abnormal (skewed results). Those that fall within the extremes may be excellent, i.e. those who fall at the extreme right of the curve tend to be people such as Olympic contenders in the athletic department, or the winners of the Nobel Peace Prize in the academic department.
When we are looking at the health sciences or more particularly the medical sciences, those who fall outside of the center normal population are designated with hyper (the high end) or hypo (the low end) of functioning.
How do we establish what the normal
is? You would think users of this approach would take a huge population, plot their scores on the Bell Curve, and then determine if those with particularly high or low scores had any disorders. But they don’t because testing everyone is simply not practical.
Usually what happens is that a profile of a group of people with a given disorder is taken and that is plotted on the normalization curve. Then a profile of people who are considered normal is plotted. Theoretically, randomized studies are done but if you select a group from any given area, there may be higher numbers of one sex than the other, or higher numbers of people within a given age range, economic range, health range, diet style, food accessibility, water contamination, toxic environment, or a number of other variables that are typically not taken into consideration when the normalization curves and databanks are initially created.
In addition, you have to take into account all kinds of statistical factors, such as different reliability and variability.
However, we have these ranges that are utilized for interpretation in the medical sciences—even when they are incorrect. So, an MD will look at testing results and if you fall within the norm
, he or she will determine that you are healthy. If, on the other hand, you fall outside of the normal range, you have a problem.
There is a big problem with this kind of analysis. It sets up tests and diagnoses for a lot of false positives and false negatives.
The Hypothyroid example
Let’s look at a simple example. Let’s say you had your thyroid tested every five years up to the age of twenty so that
