    Introduction

The culmination point of my procrastination came in 2003. I was working full time as a web developer and I had ambitious goals: I wanted to become a globally recognized and sought-after web developer. Who says your goals should be small and modest ;).

I would dream constantly about giving speeches in front of big crowds, writing successful books on the topic and being a blogger/developer superstar, offering valuable advice for hundreds of thousands of people reading my blog.

I had always understood the power of education and I was also willing to invest money in it as much as needed. Naturally this was a great starting point, but there was another type of investment that was also needed: time.

Since I was busy at work, I had to do the majority of the training on my own, outside office hours. Fortunately, I was very passionate about web development, so I didn't think this was going to be an issue. Besides, as a single guy, I could dedicate as much time as possible for honing my skills when I got home from work.

I went to Amazon.com, bought a web development book, and waited eagerly for it to arrive in my mailbox. And once I got the book, I just couldn't wait to start reading it, learning new tricks from it, and conquering the world.

But one book wasn't enough, so I wanted more. Since my goal was to become a superstar, I really wanted to immerse myself with all the possible information there was. And soon I found myself adding yet another book on Amazon's shopping cart.

Very soon I had a respectable stack of books sitting on my desk. When I looked at this stack, I realized I had a problem: I hadn't started reading any of them.

    Ouch!

As the time went on, the size of the stack grew and the more disappointed I became. Even though I had passion towards the topic, I never took action. In other words, I never started the journey in the first place.

When writing this, it's the beginning of 2015 and things have changed for the better. Even though I still procrastinate - and we all do that, independent of how
