Samsung Galaxy S6 User Manual - Shelby Johnson

    Introduction

The Galaxy S6 smartphone by Samsung was released on April 10, 2015 as the successor to the popular Galaxy S5 cell phone. With this newly designed and updated smartphone, owners are not only able to just make and take calls, but also do so much more. Productivity and entertainment are taken to a whole new level with all of the new specs and features this device offers.

At first glance, this is a sleek phone that should please new owners with its beautiful look.

What’s New with the Samsung Galaxy S6 vs. S5?

The Galaxy S6 is the Samsung’s first metal frame phone. Users who are used to being able to open the back to change the battery or add memory will really notice this difference. Another thing that is different is that this phone is not water resistant like the S5 was.

Also, with the S6, Samsung once again left off many of their standard apps after receiving so much criticism over the deluge of apps that came pre-loaded on the earlier versions of the phone. If you were a fan of S Note or S Translator, you will have to download them to your phone using your Samsung account. Of course, if those apps just took up extra space on your phone, you will be thrilled to see they are not on the S6 cluttering up your apps screens.

Finally, with the S6, Samsung went back to the micro USB charging cord. Some users might appreciate this while others will miss the faster charging of the S5’s cord.

Of course, the biggest new thing is that Samsung has also released a second phone called the Galaxy S6 Edge. This phone operates the same way as the regular S6, but it has a sleek curved edge screen.

What's in the Samsung Galaxy S6 Box?

It’s always exciting to open up that brand new smartphone purchase because your phone provides so many important functions on a daily basis. With the right smartphone, such as the S6, you’re getting all of the essentials in a handheld, portable device.

Samsung’s latest smartphone is an item of beauty based on its design, specs, and features. The phone’s standout features include a brilliant 16-megapixel camera along with a PayPal certified fingerprint scanner, along with the impressive 5.1-inch Full HD Super AMOLED® display. It is no surprise that getting this phone programmed and ready to use is a priority for new owners.

Making sure you’ve received all of the included items inside the package is essential. Inside a brand new Galaxy S6 box you will find the following:

    Samsung Galaxy S6 Smartphone.

SIM Card and SIM Card Injection Pin.

    Wired stereo headset.

    USB data cable/charger.

    Quick Start Guide

    Warranty Information.

Everything you need to actually get started with your phone arrives in the box with it. Of course, there are items you will probably want like a case and a car charger. Those S6 accessories will be covered later in this book.

Setting up the Samsung Galaxy S6

Setting up the S6 is not incredibly difficult. If you have owned another Galaxy device, you will find similarities. In fact, if you have owned another android device this phone will also seem fairly easy to navigate. Even former iPhone owners should not have big problems setting up this new phone. The next sections provide everything you need to know to get started with this phone.

    Adding the SIM Card

Adding the SIM card to your Galaxy S6 will be different than adding it to previous Galaxy phones because this phone does not have a removable battery or back.

Note: Only nano SIM cards work with this device.

Insert the ejection pin into the hole on the SIM card tray to eject the tray. Make sure you hold the ejection pin perpendicular to the hole to keep from damaging your phone.

Gently pull out the SIM card tray from the SIM card tray slot.

Place the SIM card on the SIM card tray with the gold contacts facing downwards.

Insert the SIM card tray back into the SIM card tray slot.

    Charging the Battery

The S6 may come with a partially charged battery, but you may choose to fully charge the battery before you begin using the device. To charge the battery simply complete the following steps:

Connect the USB cable to the USB power adaptor.

Plug the end of the USB cable into the multipurpose jack located on the bottom of the phone.

Plug the USB power adaptor into a wall outlet.
