About this ebook

The Scions were the four richest, most powerful guys at Valesca Academy, and they ruled the school with iron fists. Everyone wanted to date them or be them...everyone, that is, except Maya Lindberg, who just wanted to avoid them until she could graduate.

She almost succeeded, until an ill-advised outburst on her part put her right in the Scions' path. Just like that, one became her fake boyfriend, one her unwanted matchmaker, one her guardian angel, and the one she couldn't stand the most? Yeah, he's her new housemate.

A Young Adult romantic comedy that explores what happens when a girl gets everything she never asked for, including a puppy, a new wardrobe, and, possibly, even true love.

Confession: I only made it to page 200 out of like 430-something. I just could not bring myself to finish this book. This author has some wild ideas about what the lives of the rich are like, and honestly as someone who went to a real-life wealthy prep school I really struggled to take this crap seriously. She writes about "the Scions" as though they're barely human beings, even once we get to know them, they're like awkward caricatures of how she imagines rich people. Not to mention ridiculous caricatures of how she imagines high school cliques based on money. Save yourself the trouble and read Gossip Girl or the Clique Series instead if you want to read about petty rich friendships.

I really wanted to like this because Maya is a Chinese-American protagonist, and that's rare! Especially in this genre! But alas, all we get is her insanely caricatured Chinese grandmother as a bit of comedic relief. Honestly the way the author emphasized the grandmother's poor English made me a little uncomfortable, as did the levels of crazy. I felt there was a missed opportunity there to write a genuinely funny character, but instead it crashed and burned in extremist territory like the rest of this disappointing book.
