This book is for anyone that is learning Spanish or English, young or old, beginner or expert.

This Spanish/English story is presented in three versions. The first version is an alternating Spanish/English format, where the reader can first read a paragraph in Spanish, and then follow along in English. The second version presents the entire story first in Spanish, and the third version, in English. In this way, the reader can practice their comprehension with the full story.

Praise for Gabriel Drexler:
"The idea of this book is a good one - you have a short story that is written in Spanish and in English and the different languages are laced in between one another...I really like this idea since it allows you to quickly compare and contrast the two languages and easily correct yourself."

"I will re-read this many times. It is a great way to reinforce Spanish expressions compared to English."

"The story is entertaining, and the use of Spanish juxtaposed with English makes language learning easier, since my main reason for purchasing this book was to improve my Spanish skills."

The Heart of the Forest/ El corazón del bosque (An English/Spanish Dual Language Story) - Gabriel Drexler

Joana is thirteen years old. She likes to draw, to listen to music, science-fiction movies and playing soccer with her best friends, Sally and Dina. She met them on the first day of school and they have been inseparable ever since. Her favorite song is Rose garden by Lynn Anderson. Her friends think that it is an old song, but she loves it because her mom used to sing it to her when she was little. Joana always says that she doesn’t have a favorite color but, every time she goes shopping, she ends up buying green t-shirts.

She enjoys math a lot because the exercises look like a game, but she also likes history classes because they remind her of movies. When she walks through the streets of the city with her mother Clara, everyone thinks they look a lot alike: they are both short, thin, and their eyes are as green as the forest.

Joana loves the forest. Her mother always talks about a house in the country that her grandmother has, but Joanna barely remembers having been there. In general, Joana doesn’t appear different from other girls her age, but what nobody knows is that she has a secret: fairies have decided to live in her bedroom.

The first flower appeared next to the bed. It was a Wednesday, and Clara was cleaning her daughter’s room when she found it. Joana had always been a tidy kid, so she was surprised to find one of her toys outside the wardrobe. Besides, she had never seen this particular toy before. It was amazing. It even had two ladybugs on top, red
