- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This is a quite a difficult book to get into, and its really just part of a much larger series of books that were originally published in Germany.Whilst the text is quite dense and it isn't the sort of coffee table or bedtime book that you'd enjoy reading end-to-end, it does contain some very interesting and useful information. As it is a translation of a German work ('Wie Muss die Wirtschaft Umgebaut Werden?') obviously many of the examples have a bias towards the German experience. This is useful though - all too often environmental books in English only touch on the European perspective, so its good to get a view from one of the major EU powers. This book was written before the Fukishima nuclear incident and Germany's subsequent move to expand its already admirable renewable power generation industry. As 'sustainable development' in industries is one of the core precepts of this book, it will be interesting to see how Germany develops over the next 10-20 years and how close it follows the recommendations and ideas presented here.
