Assassination in Washington D.C.
Whatever your views on Washington D.C., whether you love it or hate it, there is one thing you would have to agree on. Washington is not a quiet city where nothing happens. There are a lot of murders in Washington. Some of those murders are the actions of the desperate souls who live in abject poverty in certain areas of the city. Other murders are inspired by greed or by politics.
On average there are five murders every week in Washington. That’s almost one every day and it’s the highest per capita murder rate of any major US city. Today is no different. In a large hotel on the outskirts of the city a British man is carefully assembling a rifle. The British man is a paid executioner, an unemployed relic of the British Special Air Service. Faced with a choice of security work in Britain at a rate of a few dollars an hour or flying to America several times a year and shooting a specified target for tens of thousands of dollars, the British man has made the obvious choice.
Although he cleaned and oiled the rifle earlier that morning, the Briton checks it again. His name is Stephen Haggerty and he lives in the old Roman town of Bath in southern England. Does his conscience ever bother him? Surprisingly it does. Stephen Haggerty doesn’t really like the way he has to make his living but this is a cold hard world we live in where making a decent living is much harder than it once was. In ten minutes, Haggerty will pull the trigger on the rifle and snuff out a life.
On the opposite side of the street is a very smart restaurant with tables outside as well as inside. Haggerty has been told that his target will be sitting in the restaurant opposite a little before noon. It is close to noon now and if we look down at the restaurant we can see four people sitting there. There are two men and two women and each sits at a table on their own. From what we know thus far then, it could be any one of these people because Haggerty has been told that his target will be alone. Shall we look at these people and speculate as to which one it might be.
Both women are beautiful and both look to be in their late thirties. The one on the left is called Sharon Ellison. She is five feet seven with blonde hair and dark green eyes. Sharon knows Washington well, she has worked as a political staffer for many years. She is a vivacious woman with a ready smile and just lately she has snagged herself a senator. Will she marry the senator I hear you ask. There is a slight problem with that because Senator Berenson is already married. However, Sharon is proving to be an excellent mistress with a strong sexual appetite. Although Senator Berenson is really interested in other things than conversation when he is with Sharon Ellison he does find pleasure in her company both in bed and out of it. Sharon will be meeting the senator later tonight and she has bought a new thong especially for the occasion. We can speculate here, the target could well be Sharon Ellison. Anyone who has an affair with a senator is always a potential target. Perhaps Sharon has a tell-all book in the works and the senator has discovered it?
To Sharon’s left is Randy Somerville. Randy is in his early forties, six feet two with dark hair and blue eyes. Randy is a handsome man and he has had one hell of a life. He has lived in more than fifteen separate states and has also had a spell in Europe. Randy is a professional gambler and he’s good at it. At least he was good at it up until a few months ago. Right now, Randy owes some men from Vegas more than two hundred thousand dollars. These are the kind of men that want to take bits off you if you mess with them. Randy is very attached to his fingers and he was lucky to get out of Vegas with
