A Bank Street College of Education Best Book of the Year
You may be familiar with Adams's iconic black-and-white nature photographs. But do you know about the artist who created these images?
As a child, Ansel Adams just couldn't sit still. He felt trapped indoors and never walked anywhere--he ran. Even when he sat, his feet danced. But in nature, Ansel felt right at home. He fell in love with the gusting gales of the Golden Gate, the quiet whisper of Lobos Creek, the icy white of Yosemite Valley, and countless other remarkable natural sights.
From his early days in San Francisco to the height of his glory nationwide, Antsy Ansel chronicles a restless boy's path to becoming an iconic nature photographer.

Reviews for Antsy Ansel

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is a well-illustrated and nice introduction to photographer Ansel Adams for children. The author included many things about his early life that are certain to appeal to them. It may cause a few of them to ask their parents to take them out of school so they can experience things Ansel did. Just a "word of warning" for those of you who may borrow this as an ebook from your library as I did: I did not know in advance this was a "Kindle" book. I was forced to read it on my black & white Kindle keyboard as no option to download it to iPad was available, even though I have the Kindle app on it. The text was too small to read, but it showed up in the next screens. There were two "problem" pages where the pages were not oriented correctly and it was impossible to read the text.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great story, with lots that I had not read before.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A great introduction to Ansel Adams, national parks, and photography.
