I married at age 22, and due to unforeseen events I found myself a single parent of two children in the mid 1990's.There have always been trials, including domestic violence, but after many years I have decided to share my adventures with the world as I go on the most soul searching journey of my entire life. These books have been written in Australian English-slang and abbreviations to capture the essence of Australian slang and larrikinism and the sense of humor that's so different.

    Dedication

This third book is dedicated to my mother and brother who are no longer with us. Also, to a new friend, who I met at age 45, whilst going through one of the toughest times I have ever experienced in my life.

She encouraged me to finish book one and again to do book two. She was the first person I’ve ever spoken to about the marriage I endured for so long in detail and she encouraged me to tell my story.

As it is a story rarely told. Melanie is a wonderful lady and we have become the best of friends in such a short time. Without her support and that of one of my oldest and dearest friends Julie, and a new friend who I have recently met on my journey, Dianne, these stories would never have been told.

    Chapter One In Melbourne again

After a few weeks Pete had found a house in the southern suburbs and had started to move items into the house. The boys were a bit restless at first, but after spending time with their cousins, things soon started to settle down.

Pete was on the hunt for some work. Even though he knew he was going to be restricted due the age of the kids, he knew that anything, even part time work, was going to help him survive.

It wasn’t long before things began to settle down for everybody and a nice routine started to form. Peace was finally starting to come to their lives.

Without the constant taunting and abuse, Pete found himself relaxing for the first time in years. Even though he had plenty of pressure with the kids, he was able to start living and enjoying life once again.

Within a couple of weeks Pete picked up some work at an electrical factory. The hours weren’t really suited for what was happening at home and travelling to Dandenong everyday was taking up more time that Pete didn’t have.

But it was bringing in some much needed cash to the household.

C’mon boys, let’s go to Hungry Jacks for dinner. Pete said to the boys as he picked them up from day care. It had been over a year since he could buy the kids anything like that and the excitement in their eyes was very obvious.

Can we play on the gym stuff? they both asked.

Of course you can, then we might go shopping. Pete replied.

After finishing dinner at Hungry Jacks, they set of for the shopping centre. The boys were amazed as they had never been to a centre that was so big. Their adventures had begun.

Within a few weeks Pete had found a new job working for a fencing company and he was very keen to start his new job. The boss was a nice guy who Pete wanted to impress.

It was part time and in the same suburb. Best of all, his new boss was very understanding of Pete’s situation and he was more than happy to let him work during school hours so that he was able to do the pick up and drop off at school and get them into a routine.

Jackson had started school by this stage and Daniel was in preschool which took a lot of pressure of Pete.

Fencing was hard work but Pete enjoyed every minute of it, getting down and dirty. The laughter and jokes were the best medicine for Pete and he started to feel human again.

Hey Pete, unload that truck will you, then give Gazza (a workmate) a hand? the boss called out.

Sure thing Pete replied. For the first time in a long time Pete was enjoying himself and so were the kids.

Many an afternoon and weekends were spent at the beach and at kid’s parks.

    The weekend was
