- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I used to only know how to cook lasagna or spaghetti, now I know a few other dishes as well. This book taught me not only how to cook Italian food but it gave me a bit of background on Italy and where the different dishes come from as well. I knew that there were Italian food dishes lasagna and spaghetti spices the spices that do into them, however, preparing them was a different story.
What I didn't know was how rich that Italian food could actually be until listening to this book. I also found out that like in the US it is all about location, location, location on how one dish could taste in one region that it would in another. I don't know whether I want to buy my Cafe Latte now or make it myself, although it does take me a bit longer to make, and mine does taste a better. I also learned of a few new breakfasts to make at home that might make me and the wife gain a bit more weight, which she wouldn't be happy about.
Lunches and dinners were the same way however these were so rich i do have an idea i will not be cooking some of these very often as they are and some rich food i just can't handle very well. My wife did love the items I did cook from this book, so I am sure I will be cooking some again when she gets tired of being in the kitchen. I will also suggest this book to my friends who like to cook as well.

Yes, we're open! Please come on in.
Greetings, we would like to welcome you to Excel Cooking.
Now this might not be what you expect like most cookbooks out there because (naturally) there is no way we can cover every dish under the sun.
Our approach is not to overwhelm you with choices, but rather give you the finest options available to choose from to get your feet wet. Don't be surprised if they're not the most common food items that you think of since we're going for a more authentic route.
These recipes were specifically chosen for a reason to give you real hands-on experience.
Each cuisine requires different cooking techniques and method, and the goal is for you to build that foundation to the point where you can customize and tweak the selections however you like for more intricate fancy dishes.
More importantly, rather than simply know how to cook, it's about understanding the cultural practice and the handling of the food itself to really excel in this particular area
