This was a book with several short stories: "Angel in the Attic", "Lone Star", "Under His Wings" and "Behold the Lamb". I loved them all and enjoyed them each for different reasons. In "Angel in the Attic" I enjoyed the 'spunk' of Fara Canaday as she chases away men only after her money, until she rescues a stranger in the snow. In "Lone Star" you will be taken back to 1886 in England and watch how a young Texan girl, who is sent to marry Rupert Cholmondeley, finds herself trying to stay true to her promise when she is falling for the older brother instead. Then there is "Under His Wings", also set in England, but this time the Lord William of Beaumontfort finds himself intrigued with a new 'maid' at his Brackendale House, where he has gone for the Christmas season to get away from it all. She is fiesty and speaks her mind and the attraction for each other is real, but they are from two very different worlds. Finally you have "Behold the Lamb" where a rich young man finds himself betrothed to a young lady who is not happy about the 'arrangement'. He has secrets, she has suspicions and together they must learn to love each other. I appreciated how this author weaved into each of her stories the true meaning of Christmas and the true meaning of letting the Lord be truly the "Lord of your life". Some of my favorite quotes from these stories were: "I cannot deny I am lonely at times. But I've come to understand that I can choose to wallow in unhappiness or seek after the joy in life. I choose joy."For this quote you really have to read the story to appreciate, "Gwyneth, you have filled my stomach, warmed my heart, uncovered my flaws, and challenged my faith. And I like that. Very much.""I forgive you, she said, looking into his eyes, because I have been forgiven" . . . "You and I, are just two little lambs . . forgiven and loved by the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world."If you want to get carried away this Christmas with some good heartfelt stories that won't take you long to read, then pick up this book, get cozy and enjoy!
