The author of this book explains to us that we exist in an unknown, immeasurable reality

and that neither being born nor dying are of themselves real.

When we lose a beloved or are grieving, or are ourselves in failing health due to sickness or aging,

there comes a time when we must each face death.

This book grew out of the grief the author went through when he lost his own beloved and

he hopes that his words will encourage those who are facing questions of life and death now

by helping the reader to gain the awareness that we exist in a great unknown.

This awareness can give readers the power to transcend a death.

It is the author’s sincere hope that this book will bring innate healing to those who have lost their beloveds,

who are facing death or who are simply looking for a way of life that suits them.

    Prologue

In reality, we will never die as we are not born, either.

I wrote my essays with the hope of sharing my modest awareness

with those whose beloveds are dying,

those who are facing death or those who are in similar circumstances

as I was with my love, if ever there should be such people around.

My beloved had gotten terminal scirrhous cancer.

I was desperately struggling to help her, to find something helpful to save her life.

This happened a dozen years or so ago.

It was hugely difficult to find something that could help to save a life

from terminal scirrhous cancer when the internet was not very developed.

However, my beloved lady always said to me that she needed me close to her

instead of leaving her behind and that she didn’t want me to search any more.

I desperately wanted to save her

and with that in mind, I could hardly listen to her pleas.

She told me she wanted me beside her

and to talk to her about the universe, about the unknown,

and about the non-existence of death,

    which I often talked to
