    History

    Ultrasound has been devoted to medical tasks since end of World War 2. (1950, Glasgow)

    In its origins it has been developed by allied scientists in order to track German submarines;

    Once a nightmare for sea transportation at the beginning of World War 2.

    Soon after beginning of use of powerful sonars in American fleet, German submariners suffered a true disaster.

    This profile of German navy was literally destroyed, suffering a loss of almost 95% in only a few months.

    After end of War, scientific acquisitions were oriented to peaceful applications, in Medicine for instance.

    Medical Application

    At first abdominal ultrasound was able to diagnose only gallbladder stones.

    With better image processing, resolution and hard disc space and faster analysis, other medical topics could be tracked with success.

    At that time, the two biggest Mega-Konzerne (Huge firms), which are still main actors in Radiology;

    Siemens
