      Blake Lively was born Blake Ellender Brown on August 25, 1987 in the Tarzana neighborhood of Los Angeles, California to famed actor, producer, and director Ernie Lively (nee Ernest Wilson Brown, Jr.) and talent agent Elaine (nee McAlpin) Lively. Her father is known for such roles as Will Sanders in The Man In The Moon, Chief Biggs in Passenger 57, and Coach Sam Hicks in The Perfect Game.

      Lively was named after her grandmother’s brother, and her second name, Ellender is a variation of the German word allender, which means strange or foreign. However she claims to have never been given an explanation from her parents on where the name came from, deciding for herself that they just liked the sound of it. As for her last name, that came from her mother’s previous husband Ronnie Lively. Shortly after her birth, her father changed his last name to Lively, taking his wife’s previous husband’s name so that the entire family could
