Getting Started
Part 1
For us to get started, there are some prerequisites we need first. This book is solely dedicated to the free lite version or RPG Maker VX Ace Lite. We will review what the Lite version offers, its limitations and methods to work around those constraints.

Story Board
The story you wish to express through your game can be as simple as a few obstacles to as robust as your imagination can run.
There are four parts constructed to create a good story.
Beginning [ The Setup ]
Emerging Middle [ The Response ]
Deeper Middle [ The Attack ]
End [ The Resolution ]
Adopt a good story line for your RPG game and then flesh it out with RPG Maker VX Ace Lite. The intended player will be interested in how the story line plays out. Keep in mind, RPG is a Role Playing Game. Immersion into the storyline is the goal. The player or character lives within your created world.
Chapter 1: Acquiring the RPG Maker Application
You may see the RPG Maker VX Ace Lite program made available from many website sources. However, I suggest you acquire it from Steam. Currently, this is the more efficient, and safest method to obtain the program. There is always the chance of receiving a virus or malware from other sources.
Getting the RPG Maker VX Ace Lite from Steam
The free application is found on Steam at http://store.steampowered.com/app/224280/ . On this page, you will see the Free Lite version offered.
Picture obtained from Steam’s RPG Maker VX Ace Lite Website.
You will need to be online while you use Steam to download, install and activate the RPG Maker VX Ace Lite. However, you will not need to be online, while using the RPG application, after installation. I have verified this with Steam and had my students confirm this as well.
Chapter 2: Installing the RPG Maker Application
There is a minimum set of requirements for the installation of the RPG Maker VX Ace lite version. This program is only for Windows operating system at this time.
Once the RPG Maker is correctly downloaded, we can install the application. The ZIP file I was provided from Steam during the download was called, RPGVXAceLite_E_AVG_0205.zip. The file is around 107,284 KB in size. You will need a ZIP application to open the zip file.
There are two files contained within the zip file, Setup.exe and Setup-1.bin. You will need to double click the Setup.exe file.
Upon clicking the Setup.exe file, you will be choosing Next
throughout the setup. It will walk you through the process.
It is recommended to choose Standard Installation, by default. Click Next throughout the installation.
By default the program will attempt to install the program in the following location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Enterbrain\RPGVXAceLite.
There is a required 122.4 MB of disk space required. The application is not very big, upon installation.
While the program resides in the folder location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Enterbrain\RPGVXAceLite.
The actual game content resides in the folder location: C:\Users\[user]\Documents\RPGVXAce, where [user] is your name on the computer.
Chapter 3: Understanding the Limitations of the Free Version
In this chapter, I wanted to cover the specificity of the limitations with the RPG Maker VX Ace Lite game and what it does provide. While I will be covering some workarounds with the free version, I do not condone in breaking
the free version.
By that, I mean there are creative ways to work with the lite version, without the use of scripting or illegality.
Additionally, as we review each limitation, I will refer to the free version as lite,
