Tim Wemple

My name is Tim Wemple, and I'm a landscape photographer and artist at Andy's Paw Prints. Three years ago my wife and I started Andy's Paw Prints to help animals in need. We take people's photos and turns them into artistic keepsake portraits. We started our business in response to the overwhelming need we saw after an EF5 tornado nearly wiped our town off the map and displaced thousands of pets. We knew we needed to do something, but we were not sure what. That's when we came up with the idea of creating custom pet portraits and donating 25% of our profit to help our humane society. Since that humble beginning, we have steadily grown until we now partner with over 250 shelters and rescues all over the US and Canada.

    Author and Artist: Tim Wemple

So, you might be asking yourself what gives me, Tim Wemple, the authority to write a book about taking better pet photos with your phone? Besides being a professional photographer, I have the unusual job of looking at hundreds of amateur pet photos every month. Many of them taken with cell phones.

Several years ago my wife and I started a pet portrait business called Andy’s Paw Prints. We create artistic portraits from people’s pet photos and donate 25% of our profit to help animals in need. As the artist in our business, I’ve seen a lot of beautiful pet photos taken with cell phones, but I’ve also seen all the mistakes people make over and over.

In this book, I hope to impart to you what I’ve learned from my experience as a professional photographer, as well as an artist that has seen a lot of pet photos.

    It’s all about the subject

Our pets make great subjects for photos, but they can also be a challenge to photograph. Add the limitations of a cell phone camera and the challenge becomes exponentially harder. This book was written to help you overcome those difficulties and teach you some basic composition principles for taking better photos.

In addition to teaching you how to photograph your pet, I’ll give you some tips on what makes a good photo for an artistic portrait of your pet.
