About this ebook

Lunch is an underground icon/celebrity, so author tours and events will be very helpful in the promotion. The New York Times and New Yorker have both run recent features with photos of Lydia Lunch. A recent book, NO WAVE, by Thurston Moore (another underground icon) and Byron Coley, has Lydia as a major subject.

My local library compiled a list of all the books that Anthony Bourdain liked and this book was on that list. Bourdain was quoted as saying " Lydia Lunch takes no prisoners … ever. I’m inspired by her utter fearlessness." I completely agree with this sentiment., the book is pretty fearless and swings a lot of punches - some land while many others don't. Oh well, we are all better off for her trying in the first place.

The reason for the five stars is because it would have taken so much guts and energy to write this book! Lydia Lunch is a prolific performance artist from NY (I think!) with a fascination for death. Yes infact she spends the entire time writing about it in gross detail and other people's death wish too. If you like gloom with the wild woman who likes to sing, do spoken word and yell then this is for you ??

The writing here was too amped up for me. I felt like my ear was pressed up against a speaker at full blast.. which made it difficult to absorb the content. It’s rare to get this close to people on the fringe of society.. who has time to write when you’re so busy dying? Lunch has an interesting voice.
