Pearls of Deception
IT HAD BEEN THE PERFECT MURDER. No blood, no mess.
Christina looked down at the female victim.
This was an upscale suburban neighborhood where all the soccer moms and white-collar corporate fathers would be appalled that something like this could happen here. But the truth was it could happen anywhere, and anyone was capable of it given strong enough motivation. And she had been provided with precisely that.
Bob, her husband of twelve years, had done the unthinkable and had broken her heart. And because of this, the woman who had been her husband’s mistress had deserved to die.
Still, it was her husband who had vowed to be true, to love her until his dying breath. He had only successfully acted the part of a good provider and caring partner.
All this was his fault; the woman’s blood was on his hands. Christina fought the smirk of victory from spreading across her lips. The murder and the setup had been months in the making. She had planned it to the point of exhaustion. And she knew how to manipulate the evidence. In fact, it would only incriminate one person—her husband. Call it an execution of justice.
His mistress’s house was open concept. The front doorway fed into the living room, and the kitchen was at the back end. It was there that Christina had laid in wait, braced against a wall.
As she looked on the woman’s body, she recalled the previous night’s events clearly. Her plan had been put into action when the front door creaked open…
Her husband’s mistress came into the home, flirtatiously giggling, footsteps behind her.
Then she heard her husband’s laughter, and bile rose in her throat.
Dinner was delicious,
the mistress said.
Christina peeked around the wall and saw the woman standing in front of Bob and leaning in for a kiss.
Suddenly, all Christina could see, smell, and taste was payback.
Careful to keep quiet, she took a deep breath. I will go through with this.
The mistress slipped out of her heels as Bob grabbed at her and nuzzled into her neck. He slid his hands under her blouse and pulled it over her head. The woman continued to kiss him, preparing to give herself to him.
