    Larceny was not in Larry Yidell’s heart. Its not something he had ever considered before, not in thirty-four years of existing (barely) on this planet.

    He brushed his teeth every morning; he went to work and came home; he enjoyed a snack of milk and cookies every night at 10:15 (precisely) before dropping off to a fitful, restless sleep.

    Sometimes he left the radio on while he slept, for company.

    Larry Yidell was a creature of small comforts. He didn’t ask for much, and the world normally complied.

    When he met Wilma Cabbage, he was determined that his life would continue unchanged. While he was not averse to sharing his life with the formidable Miss C., Larry impressed on her at the start that there were clear lines of demarcation; boundaries he expected her to abide. For her part, Wilma let him know that he could stuff it.

    She moved in within the first month, establishing her territorial control by furnishing their bedroom with framed pictures of her family. Larry thought it ironic that every one of her relatives shared the same sized head, lending much credence to the Cabbage family name.

    Within that first week, he found himself banished to the livingroom couch, for snoring.

    By the third month, Wilma Cabbage – herself comfortably unemployed with no prospects and even less interest – began complaining about her new boyfriend’s pitifully small paychecks. "How
