    Every day, millions of Christian women, or Danielles, enter into the workplace, only to find themselves surrounded by perils that threaten their job security and career advancement as well as their mental and emotional well-being. The godless, secular, and often hostile workplace is filled with many challenges for Danielles. Some coworkers question their decisions and actions, simply because they are women. Other coworkers antagonize and harass them because they make it no secret that they are Christians – God’s representatives. Worse, there are also coworkers who rise up and plot against them, seeking their demise... just because.

    In order to thrive as Christian women in today’s secular workplace, Danielles must learn not only how to deal with but how to rise above the challenges that they face with grace and godliness. Fortunately, Danielles’ ultimate Employer left her with a biblical model for how to navigate the workplace: the biblical story of Daniel. Daniel was taken away to a godless land, and even though he was faced with threats and great peril – including being thrown into the lion’s den – he refused to compromise his faith in God. Daniel’s faith and the choices that he made while in a godless environment provide a solid framework for how Danielle should respond to challenges that she faces in the workplace – her own lion’s den!

    This daily devotional allows Danielles in every phase of their careers to glean lessons of faith, wisdom, and purpose from real stories of other Danielles who have gone before them. In the end, Danielles realize that because of their relationship with God and their fierce dependence on Him and His faithfulness, they are destined to win... even in the lion’s den!

    Arlener Steels-Poydras’ mantra is, “Jesus is my everything and my enough!” She loves God’s people and enjoys speaking at both community and church events and sharing her message of survival through adversity. A graduate of the Southern Bible Institute in Dallas, Texas, Arlener serves as the Director of Christian Education for Meet Me @ The Cross Prayer Ministry (MM@TC) under the leadership of her husband of over 20 years, Rev. L.A. Poydras. Arlener is also the President of the Artis-the-Artist Foundation. This non-profit corporation is a labor of love in memory of their son A.J., and it provides scholarships to students studying the arts. Arlener has worked full time since the age of 15 and has held many jobs from housekeeping to senior management. Like millions of other women in the workplace, she has faced some unique challenges. After talking with women in various industries and careers, she wrote Danielle in the Lion’s Den – real stories about real women in the workplace – as a daily reminder for Christian women in the workplace that they are not alone. God is always with them; He is everything and He is enough, even in the workplace.
