About this ebook

The Tower of Babel through the ages, has become a topic of much discussion. Babylon must be a very important topic as it appears right through the Bible. There are many diverse views on this story. The Tower of Babel wasn’t just a childlike story of a tower constructed in Babylon. It was about the secrets of heaven, including how to travel it. It is about an inter-dimensional travel undertaking.
The full meaning could never have been understood until our modern-day studies “caught up” to some of the descriptions contained within a few key words of this story.
Traditionally this has always been the text to embody the thought of teamwork and unity. I have heard some very good sermons, in the sense of unity and the accomplishments that can result. Unity isn’t the total picture to this story, neither is building a tower. We have to see past the tower to question why it was being built. The objective of this tower, as traditionally taught, was for the builders to climb into heaven. As this was an act of rebellion to God, why did they try to climb into heaven? As primitives, did they think they could pull God down?
If they were trying to literally climb into heaven why did they build the tower in a plain? Our understanding of this story has for centuries taken on this rather childlike image. In the past, there was no other evidence to conclude anything else. Back then; it would not have been an important issue. There was nothing else that challenged or threatened our faith by these thoughts. Most would accept this matter as one of the “mysteries of the Bible” and let it go.
In our present time it is very important to have a clear understanding of just what took place.

    introduction

    Genesis 11:1-6

1 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.

2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.

3 And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.

4 And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.

5 And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.

6 And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.

7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.

8 So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.

9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.
