    INTRODUCTION

This guidebook consists of a package of information that has been accumulated during 50+ years of my overall lifetime experiences as a paid freelance writer, and also many years as a full-time paid copywriter. Naturally, there is additional writing time that dates back to early childhood, which is where the initial creation of my basic foundational base of information began.

You most likely are reading this eBook because you are interested in the possibilities of making money as a writer, either online or offline. Many writers started off in the same manner, keeping diaries, writing fabulous term papers and essays in school, and having an excellent background in a group of essential writing skills. At some point, they may have lucked out by finding a paying position as writer for a business or media station. Even a brief instance of such initial luck has sparked a writing career for many people. In more recent years, the accessibility of work via the internet has generated paying writing jobs for tens of thousands of people.

If you are paid for your writing skills, in most minds, that makes you a writer. On the other hand, it is important to be adept at your trade if you wish to make money with your talent. Writing and good writing are far different things. The basic goal of each is communication, but basic writing is primitive, compared to good writing. For many types of freelance writing, there are additional goals, such as creating a mood, prompting action, conveying specialized information, and using other hidden aspects of the written words.
