What is ADHD:
ADHD is a lot of letters, but it is not a scary problem! ADHD is Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder. This means that is hard for some kids to pay attention at home or in school. Kids with ADHD are just like all the other kids, but it can be more difficult for them to study and learn. Sometimes kids who have ADHD also cannot sit still during class, but it is not their fault.
If you have ADHD you know that it can also be hard to listen in school. It can be hard to follow instructions. It can also be hard to think about what you are doing quietly and calmly. You may feel like you have too many thoughts and always want to speak.
Doctors and scientists are not sure why many children in the US and other countries have ADHD, but they do know ways to help you with ADHD! Many kids, just like you, have been told by their doctors and their families that they have ADHD.

ADHD doesn’t have to be scary!
Sometimes children with ADHD have extra skills. They can be extra creative or musical too! Not everyone who has ADHD will have ADHD forever. It is something that you can grow out of. Sometimes when children grow up they learn how to live with ADHD, or it goes away!
Kids with ADHD can have challenges that are different from other kids, but they’re just kids too!

Meet Sarah
Sarah is 6 years old. She likes to run and play outside a lot. After recess is over she cannot think or focus in school. She thinks about her friends, her parents, the game she played at recess, and what she ate for lunch! It is very hard for her to sit in her chair without moving or speaking. Sometimes she gets in trouble with the teacher because she is not in her seat. Sarah wants to do better in school but does not know how to improve (be better).

Meet Jason
Jason is in the 4th grade and gets into fights with his classmates at school because they make fun of him. Jason can get angry when his classmates make him upset. His classmates sometimes make fun of him because he does not follow
